Cat rescue in Baldwin, NY

We are a very small group of volunteers that do TNR (trap, neuter and release) of feral cats. Sometimes strays or young kittens are trapped. If these cats are friendly, we attempt to refer them to adoption groups. We need people, preferably without cats of their own (to avoid disease issues), who can care for the trapped cats for a few days after surgery. People are also needed to assist in the feeding of sterilized cat colonies.

Rescue FAQs

We serve Nassau County and Western Suffolk County

If you are feeding a colony of cats (or even one cat), please sterilize the cat and have the left ear tipped. Once you have an established feeding time, please contact us or another trapper and PREVENT KITTENS! Well fed cats have many kittens all year round-so please stop the cycle.

There are low cost vets, vouchers from animal groups, and free clinics. The cost per cat probably averages less than $50. Your trapper can refer you to groups & websites for low cost sterilization or you can speak to your veterinarian. Also remember, if kittens appear, they can be sterilized as early as 2 1/2 months of age.

Your cat should be trapped humanely, taken to/from vet, recuperated and then released within five days. In addition to the spay/neuter, your cat should receive a rabies vaccine, 3-1 vaccine, the ear-tip signifying that it has been sterilized. Most feral programs provide these services.

Many trappers are recognized charities so your tax deductible contributions cover the above expenses.
