The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office. Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:
The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:
The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst
2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease
3. Freedom from distress
4. Freedom from discomfort
5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.

The BC SPCA Sea to Sky Branch in Squamish serves the areas of Squamish, Britannia Beach, Brackendale, Pemberton, and Garibaldi Highlands.

If you’re looking for a feline friend who will adore you, chat with you, and keep you entertained with his playful antics, Miles is your guy! ✨ Why You’ll Love Miles: 🐾 Super Social & Affectionate – Miles LOVES people and will follow you around, eager to chat and share his day. His adorable meows and expressive face will bring endless joy to your home. 🐾 Playtime Pro – His favorite activity? Playing! He runs, tumbles, jumps, and even does somersaults—watching him in action is absolutely priceless! 🐾 Bird-Watching Enthusiast – He loves gazing out windows, keeping an eye on the world outside. 💙 Miles Needs a Special Home: Miles has food allergies that can cause skin irritation. Right now, he’s on a special diet and takes daily oral medication, which his adopter will need to continue. Because of this, his ideal family will be experienced cat owners who are comfortable giving medicine and ensuring he sticks to his diet. 🏡 Miles’ Dream Home: ✔️ Someone who works from home or is retired (he thrives on companionship!) ✔️ A quiet, mature household (no young kids, no cats, calm medium sized dogs OK —he wants to be your one and only!) ✔️ A cat-savvy person who will love, spoil, and care for him the way he deserves. ✨ What You’ll Get in Return: Miles is more than a pet—he’s a loyal best friend. He will adore you, make you laugh, and fill your home with warmth and companionship. If you’ve been searching for a cat who will truly bond with you, Miles is the one. 📩 Interested in Adopting Miles? Story
Alassio is a colony cat who was rescued from a local farm. This sweet boy is understandably very shy to start and needs time and patience to come out of his shell. Alassio enjoys catnip, freeze dried treats, playing and lounging by a window. He is a sweet, mellow boy who has occasional spurts of energy. Alassio is looking for a quiet home with a friendly cat who can help build his confidence. If your current cat needs company, Alassio is a great companion!

Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. No cats as well. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.

Story
Luna is the braver one of the pair. She will initiate affection by rubbing up against your leg, or curling up next to you -but doesn't like to be pet for too long! She will give you many warnings before trying to bite you if you pet her for too long, you just need to read her body language. She loves your company, but doesn't love to be scratched as much as Dash. She knows what she likes (fish flavours are preferred) and what she doesn't like (won't eat beef flavoured treats or food.) They are both very food motivated - they will find out where you keep the treats and open the drawer, so be ready to have treats locked up or in a hard to open cabinet! They love toys that can be chased around (balls that have a jingle, toys that make noise, or ribbons on a stick!) They are sweet, affectionate, and become attached to you once they warm up to you - you will always have their company in every room! *Dash & Luna can be adopted separately

Story
***Currently located in Guerrero, Mexico*** Hi everyone! My name is Osa, which means bear in Spanish. I am a black lab looking girl and definitely have some bear traits to show off, like silky soft fur, warm eyes and a lot of cup, I mean, pup-energy! I was found on the streets in bad shape and very hungry. On top of the suffering you face when you haven't eaten in days, I also had a bad limp in one of my front legs. Everything was a blur, I cannot remember how that happend, maybe another dog, maybe a car... A kind Mexican woman had mercy on me and brought me to the shelter, where I am still today. For the first time in my life, I experienced what safety means- I had food, water, a warm, dry place to sleep and, the best part, friends! Since then there hasn't been a single day when I went hungry again. My two besties and I play a lot together! We romp around like crazy and may sometimes run over one of the smaller puppers in our excitement (oopsies!). As I grow up, I will try to be more careful (or will I? ). To run and chase my friends is a lot of work and I recently noticed that I have zero pain in my leg- it has healed completely! Thankfully, because I wouldn't wanna miss all the fun! I also like to get all the attention from the humans. Soft pets and chin rubs are the best! When the volunteers sit down to pet us, I will hang around for quite some time before I get myself a toy to play with. I am very friendly, but sometimes I don't quite know the social etiquette and I would love to have my personal human that can teach me how to properly dog and to be fully compatiable with their family! Learning new things is fun! Another dog in the home would be cool, but it is not a must for me if I can get a lot of exercise and if we can go on play dates or to the dog park. I love toys, especially ropes and .. actually everything I cannot wait to meet my future family and go on all the adventures with them!
