Border Animal Rescue

Animal rescue in Sierra Vista, AZ

Border Animal Rescue (BAR) is committed to improving the welfare of dogs and cats in Cochise County, Arizona. We seek to rescue and rehabilitate abused and abandoned animals and find them loving, responsible homes. We also seek to encourage the members of our community to sterilize their pets so that the animal population is reduced to only those that are wanted and loved. We seek to promote the health and humane treatment of all animals in the county. We cooperate with county and city animal control offices as well as other animal welfare organizations. We are supported solely by contributions and by the labor of volunteers. We channel all our funding efforts to the benefit of the dogs and cats of the community.

Additional adoption info

You've made the right choice in choosing the adoption option, now you're on your way to adopting a new best friend!

All of our adult dogs and cats are spayed or neutered prior to going to their new home. Kittens and puppies under the sterilization age are adopted on a sterilization agreement.

There is an adoption donation to be paid upon approval of $75.00 for Cats and $125.00 for Dogs. This helps to defray the costs of veterinary bills.

All prospective adopters are carefully screened as we strive for a "match made in heaven". We require adopters to fill out a short application, and provide us with references that we will check. A home visit may also be conducted. After receiving an application, we have a processing period of a minimum of 24 hours.

Since not all animals are suitable for all potential adoptive homes, we do reserve the right to turn down or limit any potential adopters to certain animals as we deem necessary. We will help you choose a dog or cat that will be compatible with your family and lifestyle. We want you to be happy with your choice and your new friend to be happy with you.

Please remember this is a lifelong commitment; however, if for some reason the match does not work out (at any point), we must be notified and will help you make arrangements to return or place the pet.
