Shelter FAQs

The City of Richardson Animal Services Department acts as the city's only municipal animal shelter and the city's animal control division. Animal Services is focused on responsive, effective, and courteous animal care and control assistance to residents.
Animal Services accomplishes these goals by helping protect people and their property along with acting as a humane organization that protects animals. Animal Services is staffed by professional and skilled individuals willing to tackle any situation and complete it to the best of their ability.
The Richardson Animal Shelter is an open adoption facility and we welcome everyone to visit us. We encourage interaction between our visitors and adoptable pets.
The adoptable animals look forward to daily visits and socialization by our volunteers and visitors. The Richardson Shelter is passionate about rescuing, protecting, and relocating pets to new homes.
