Flora's Pet Project

Animal rescue in Naugatuck, CT

Flora's Pet Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-destroy animal rescue organization. Based in Naugatuck, CT, and working with a network of volunteers and foster homes, we provide shelter, love and all necessary vet care, including neutering, for our foster dogs and cats while we work to find each one a loving, permanent home. Helping pets since 1999, Flora's Pet Project has placed nearly 1,500 dogs and cats in wonderful new homes. Our efforts are supported entirely by private, tax-deductible donations, and, because we have no salaried employees or shelter overhead, 100% of each donation is used for the benefit of our foster pets for food, vet care and other necessities.

Rescue FAQs

We have placed pets as far north as Maine and as far south as Maryland, but we will not ship any pet, and for out-of-state adoptions we require a current vet reference and we request e-mailed photos of the home and yard.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with the completion of our online application at www.floraspetproject.org, which helps us to guide your selection of a new family member, based on what you tell us and what we already know about each pet's personality, energy level, etc. Your adopted pet will have been completely vetted prior to leaving for his or her new home, and we suggest an adoption donation which will allow us to perform the same service for another pet; in general, $125 for a cat and $300 for a dog, although we may suggested a higher donation for an individual pet. We reserve the right to verify any information in your application, and we will ask you to sign an adoption contract. The only way to reach us is by e-mail, but we check our messages throughout the day, and late into the evening.
