Westie Rescue of Missouri

Dog rescue in Gower, MO

Westie Rescue of Missouri, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation formed in 1999 to address the rescue needs of shelter dogs and puppy mill dogs. In 2000, WRM was licensed as an animal shelter by the State of Missouri. In 2001, WRM received its 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the IRS.

It is the mission of Westie Rescue of Missouri to prevent cruelty, abuse or neglect of West Highland White Terriers. To that end, we will provide rescue services, rehabilitation, and medical treatment (which will include spaying or neutering). During their time in our care, we will provide the Westies with a warm, safe and healthy environment where they can develop to their full potential while we search for their new "forever" home.

All WRM staff are volunteers. No salaries are paid. Volunteers donate their own money, as well as their time and their other resources, to rescue, rehabilitate, place and transport rescue dogs. WRM has rescue volunteers in a number of different states and, in addition to our own rescue efforts, we also assist other regional rescue groups in their rescue, transport and placement of dogs.

WRM dogs can be found throughout the United States including California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, and New York.

Additional adoption info

Westie Rescue of Missouri, Inc. is a not-for-profit state licensed organization which provides rescue, fostering, medical, and adoption services for abused, abandoned, neglected, and/or homeless West Highland White Terriers in the Missouri area.

Westies are fostered in private homes during rehabilitation or until adoption. All dogs are required to be spayed or neutered before placement. A donation of $350 to $450 to cover program expenses is required at the time of adoption.

Our rescue dogs may be Perky but they are also Quirky... they are in rescue for a reason. While our Westies may not be 'perfect', we are looking for the 'perfect' home to make up for that.
