New Yorkers for Companion Animals

Animal rescue in New York, NY

New Yorkers for Companion Animals is a small, Not-for-Profit animal rescue and placement organization located in Manhattan. Most of our animals are rescued from the animal control shelter (AC&C) of New York City. We keep them in foster homes until adopted. We are not a formal shelter. We do not euthanize animals except in extreme cases of untreatable illness.
Because we are "no kill" and because we do not have a shelter, we cannot take in every animal without a home. We are extremely limited in how many animals we can accept. Such depends entirely upon availablity of foster volunteers and how quickly foster animals are able to be adopted.

Rescue FAQs

Tri-State: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut. We also do adoptions to other states, but the people have to come to New York City.

Additional adoption info

Almost all of our animals are already spayed and neutered (exception, small kittens). All have had shots and cats are tested for Leukemia and FIV. We seek people who have a good track record of responsible care of animals. We work with an adoption contract. The contract guarantees that, if for any reason an adoption does not work out, we will take the animal back. We do have standard adoption fees to try and cover some of our expenses. $100.00 for cats. $125.00 for dogs.
