Hillsborough County Pet Resources is responsible for the humane treatment of animals in Hillsborough County and operates a shelter that accepts domestic animals regardless of breed, size, or medical condition, and attempts to find them permanent or foster homes. The department investigates reports of animal abuse, dangerous pets, or dog bites, handles pet registration tags, and offers spay/neuter vouchers for the pets of income-qualifying residents.

You can adopt dogs and cats at The Pet Resource Center, 440 N. Falkenburg Rd. in Tampa. The center is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closed on Mondays.
