Rescue FAQs
NKGC is a 501c3, all-volunteer, nonprofit with zero paid staff or government funding, meaning we depend completely on private grants and contributions. Our volunteers consist of people just like you, animal lovers, who want to make a difference in their community. NKGC is a foster based rescue, meaning we do not have a facility to house the animals. All NKGC's animals are in foster homes until they have been adopted into their new forever homes.
Glynn County, Golden Isles, Saint Simons Island, City of Brunswick, Jekyll Island, and our surrounding counties.
Adoption steps
- Submit ApplicationPlease submit an adoption application. Make sure to note which pet you are interested in.
- InterviewOnce your application is submitted our adoption coordinator may reach out to ask any questions.
- Approve ApplicationOnce an application is submitted, it will go through a vetting process with adoption coordinator. Once approved, we will be back in touch.
- Meet the PetOnce your application is approved, we can move forward with doing a meet and greet with the pet you are interested in.
- Sign Adoption ContractIf the meet and greet goes well. We will provide an adoption contract to be signed.
- Pay FeeAt the time of signing the adoption contract, you will be required to pay the adoption fee.
- Take the Pet HomeThen you can take your new fur-baby home.

Please be patient with us. We are a 100% volunteer-based rescue. Once we receive an application, we will look over the app and check references and get back in touch with you. Once approved, we will setup a meet and greet.
