I have always dreamed of opening an animal rescue so that is exactly what I did after retiring. I’m Carol Mobley, director of Homeward Bound Animal Haven. I was an elementary school teacher in various locations throughout the United States while my husband served as an officer in the United States Air Force. After retiring, we moved back to Hemingway, S.C. where we grew up. By opening Homeward Bound Animal Haven, we want to give back to our community that has given so much to us. Our rural area has no other rescue to facilitate the adoption of the many homeless pets in our area. Our mission is to provide a safe haven for animals who are waiting for their furever home with a loving family. We are a non-profit organization and have applied for destination as Federal 501(c)(3) tax deductible, charitable organization. One hundred percent of our adoption fees and donations go towards veterinary visits, spaying/neutering, initial vaccinations, and feeding the animals we take in. All our staff and volunteers are non-paid and support Homeward Bound Animal Haven because of their love for animals.
