About Hero Tails Animal Sanctuary: 501c3 Nonprofit Organization
Hero Tails focuses on rescuing dogs in the most, dire situations; euthanization lists, neglect and abuse cases, abandonment, etc. We primarily deal in large breeds, but not exclusively, but most commonly larger dogs are top of the euth lists. We work out of foster homes, so these pets get the love and attention they deserve, while we rehabilitate, nurse back to health, train and socialize them, and get to know all of their individual personalities and quirks, so we can find them the best forever families. We strive to help these dogs learn how to trust in humanity again, and the amazing thing about dogs, is that they are the real heroes, and will always trust us, no matter how hard their life may have been before they came to us.
Adoptions and fostering:
Fostering with us, means you get to love and care for these dogs, until they find their forever home, and we pay for everything. We require a home check, and foster contract, that says you will care for the pet as your own, be available to take the pet to and from appointments and meet and greets, or coordinate with hero tails to do so.
Adoptions, when you adopt a pet from us we require a home check to be sure the environment is safe for the pet, and an adoption contract stating that the dog will be cared for, that you take responsibility of healthcare needs of the pet, if for any reason you cannot keep or care for the pet, the pet is to be returned back to hero tails, etc. After which you pay the adoption fee, the adoption fee is nonrefundable. Fees range between $250-$400.
Foster-to-Adopt program, we use this program mostly but not exclusively for pets that have ongoing healthcare needs. In this program you foster the pet with the full intention of completing the adoption after any healthcare treatments are completed. We pay for all healthcare during this time and you pay for everything else. When treatment is done, you complete the adoption by signing the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
Volunteering, If you can’t adopt. We always love volunteers, to walk dogs on premises, take dogs out for adventures, and handing dogs at events. Cleaning kennels and occasionally transporting pets to appointments. Please reach out if you’re interested in volunteering with us.

Additional adoption info
We have a multiple step adoption process so we do a first meet, then a second meet with any other pets you might have and home check, at that time we sign the adoption contract and collect the adoption fee. With an out of area adoption we do require you to come and meet the pet with your current dogs. And sometime a second visit either before or after to complete the homecheck.
