Shelter FAQs

SKD USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in the US. We work in partnership with the Save Korean Dogs rescue in South Korea. Nami Kim, founder of Save Korean Dogs in South Korea, has dedicated her life to rescue, using sanitation and environmental laws to shut down illegal dog meat farms. The SKD organization finds homes for these dogs throughout the US and Canada. Our dogs are treated, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, nourished, and socialized before flying to the US. We have dogs. We have flights. Now we need homes. You are the pathway to a better life, their best life, the life they deserve.

Story
WE ONLY REPLY TO ADOPTION APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED THROUGH OUR WEBSITE, SAVEKITTENSLA.ORG Meet Cinder, short for Cinderelly aka F4L (Food4Less) because she was dumped in an aisle inside Food4Less, and was found cowering under a pallet. This is probably why she hates bags, plastic bags, particularly garbage bags! She'll run and hide at the sight of them. It is thought that she was placed in a bag then left in the aisle. Who would dump this beautiful sweetheart? Unfathomable! Despite this sweet girl’s rough start, she was saved by Luxe Paws and believe us when we say, she's pure magic and absolutely stunning! Though difficult to see in pics, her big green eyes actually have a slight gradient to them. Our favorite part about her appearance are the unique and adorable little tufts of fur that protrude off the points of her ears. She is like a micro bobcat! Like most rescue kitties, her purrs are constant and LOUD, finally being able to relax and feel loved and safe. Cinder’s purrs are so loud that people can hear her through the phone! Loud purring only means more healing for anyone within earshot. She is what her foster calls a “face-hugger" because she likes to snuggle as close to one's face as possible and wrap her long arms around the sides of the face. Cinderelly is completely fascinated with water! She likes to drink it, play in it, watch it, and simply be near water. This is unique because as you know, a lot of cats do not take well to water. She's curious and extremely high energy, she'll play until she collapses into a catnap, happy and sated from a day of running around. She would do well solo but she would really appreciate having another high energy playmate to wrestle and chase. If you're ready to become a paw parent to this sweet girl, please head to SaveKittensLA.org & send us an adoption application! We do very high volume spay/neuter, but we take an extremely personalized approach to all the babies we rescue. We NEVER adopt kitties who will be allowed to go outside or declawed & we require all our adopters understand a FOREVER home means 15+ years. Please note all applicants will be subject to a home check before an adoption is finalized.

Story
At 6 years old, our professional handsome boy Choccy is a handful. This good looking Siamese snow shoe mix is not going to be an easy cat and will not be the right fit in every home. Smart and sassy, he does not like everyone, especially other boy cats. But expect him to be a very loyal fella if you have won his heart. Behind those baby blues is a very sensitive cat who is incredibly food motivated, so if you are looking to win him over be prepared to provide structure to his feeding habits. He's not afraid to be rude and smacking with people, so he's not a good candidate for a home with children. He's looking for a human who can be dedicated to him and he promises the same in return. He is going to be a whole lot of work, but for the right person it will be very well worth it.

Story
Corvette is a distinguished gray guy famous in our kitten nursery, thanks to a personality as unique as his name. He's been with us since he was a baby, developing a distinctive charm that makes him a one-of-a-kind companion. Corvette is a lover at heart, always ready to snuggle, though he can be a bit unpredictable at times. Despite some litter box quirks and a special diet due to a condition he was born with, Corvette's affectionate nature shines through. Corvette gets along with some other cats, particularly those who are laid-back and not young males. He could also thrive as a solo cat, soaking up all the love and attention you have to offer. Corvette also needed to have all his teeth removed, so his cute little tongue is always peaking out. If you're seeking a special feline friend with a gentle yet spirited personality, Corvette could be the perfect addition to your home. Give this charming boy a chance, and he'll reward you with endless entertainment and companionship. Please contact the foster at manager@KittenRescue.org

Story
Dapper tuxedo man, Porgy, is a more than just a handsome fella, although he is very, very handsome. He's a loyal beastie and an affectionate friend, but he's not going to be good in every home. He was recently rescued from the streets, so his manners are not always suitable for young children and he is not excited to be around dogs. He's looking for a human to bond with, preferably someone who enjoys playing and will keep him entertained. If you don't hold up the end of the play bargain expect some chomps and bad behaviors! But if you create structure and playtime you could have a legendary cat friendship.

Story
Guai Guai was rescued from a meat market in China and transferred to Los Angeles in February 2021 so he could find a good home. He is a dog that enjoys quiet and calm environments with no other dogs. He can be timid with new people, but he becomes friendly and affectionate when he has had time to get to know his owner. Guai Guai is a ladies' man; he loves to relax while being petted and doted on, so he would be the perfect fit for a single owner that is looking for a furry addition to their home! When Guai Guai was traveling to the U.S. in the cage, she would take the initiative to return to the cage when led out, probably because she feels more safe in the cage. Guai Guai is very timid and friendly. She likes to be alone and doesn't like to play with other dogs. When she eats, she doesn’t like other dogs going near her. Some notes to take: She still has an anthelmintic pill to be taken on 2/10/2021. When you approach her, you need to be very gentle, and be careful not to force any physical contact with her. She takes time to get used to your presence and acquaintance. When she feels close to you, she would follow you everywhere. When putting a dog leash on her, don’t directly tie it on her, she would run away and hide. You could first pick her up and give her some cuddles, then put on the leash with her in your arms.

Story
Why does Dove rhyme with Love? Because everyone loves Dove and Dove loves everyone! This very sweet boy of 5 years, and a wonderful medium size of 40 lbs, prances like a pony for everyone to admire. One would never guess from meeting him that he is blind (uncertain whether he was born or became blind), and has a hearing deficit (can hear some tapping and responds to sirens). Even with that, he gets around his environment like a sighted dog, and easily gets the lay of the land at new places. Dove is a very special boy - he enjoys walks, is great on leash and in the car, responds well to brushing and cleaning, and has mastered his "sit" and more. He is a mellow fellow, enjoys cuddles and plays, and is an adorable softie. He would complete a home beautifully, whether as the only dog or one of many nice dogs. Being very food motivated, he is enthusiastic about learning new tricks. Dove is ready to love his new forever people and home. Contact us at therealbark@gmail.com. Please note that we are currently set up to adopt within the Los Angeles county area.
