We are a network of about two dozen animal-loving humans who are dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs, making sure they receive the care they need, and finding them caring homes.
Most of us are very experienced in animal rescue and have been involved in other rescue groups. Several of us have experience in trapping and neutering feral cats; we support this method for population control.
We also support efforts to educate the public about animal care and related issues. You can find out more about us at our main web page, www.cara-adopt.org.
All of our animals are vetted before going into their forever homes. This includes rabies and distemper vaccinations, a vet examination, and deworming, ear mite and flea treatments. Cats have been tested for feline leukemia and feline aids, and dogs have been tested for heartworm and given treatments. If the animal is not yet old enough to be spayed or neutered, there is a checkback when the animal is old enough to ensure it has been done in compliance with the adoption contract terms.

Additional adoption info
Step 1: Meet our cats and dogs looking for good homes.
Check our web page www.cara-adopt.org for pictures and biographies. Contact us to meet the animal you are interested in. We hold weekly "adoption shows" at local petstores -- see the website for our schedule!
To contact us, please email us at cara_adopt@yahoo.com, one of our volunteers will respond back to you.
Step 2: Fill out an application.
Applications are available to download in html, Adobe PDF or Word formats from our main page, www.cara-adopt.org. Free software downloaded from Adobe will allow you to view and print out PDF files from your browser.
You can download or print it out, then email it to us or bring it with you when you meet the cat or dog.
Step 3: Application Review
Your application will be reviewed to make sure that this is the right dog or cat for you. We will call your vet to obtain a summary of the vet record for your current pets. If you rent, we will verify that you are allowed to have animals. This step takes just a couple of days, and is one that nearly all rescue groups take these days.
Step 4: Adoption
Once your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit to bring over your new cat or dog. You will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee, which is a donation that goes toward vet care of more rescued animals.
