Dog rescue in Half Moon Bay, CA

We are a group of former Peninsula Humane Society (PHS) volunteers and animal rescue advocates who have over 40 years combined experience in animal welfare.

Having worked extensively with the animals coming into San Mateo County's Coyote Point shelter, we have witnessed first hand the shortcomings of an outdated animal warehousing model.

PACC Board Members successfully encouraged the county to open the San Mateo County Animal Care & Control Contract for bid in preparation for the current contract ending in 2021 - something that has not been done for 69 years!

Additional adoption info

We use a transparent adoption process, as follows:

-Completion of Adoption Application (*required)
-Phone call to answer any questions you may have
-Meet up (opportunity for you to meet the animal in their current setting)
-Short stay over (2-3 hour visit at your place to assess the right fit - PACC will bring the animal to you and will help with pet intros, as applicable)
-Adoption!

An exceptionally high number of potential adopters encounter situations that cause delays or lead them to change their minds about the animal, thus PACC is unable to put other adopters on hold to accommodate individual circumstances. We continue to invite ALL adopters through the adoption process, until the dog or cat is successfully homed. (In other words, even though you may have met the animal, PACC does not have the luxury of working exclusively with you, for the reasons outlined above). We will efficiently guide ALL potential adopters through our process and the family that completes the process first and is a good fit for the dog or cat will be given first consideration. Our main interest is being respectful of everyone’s time while transitioning our animals to loving permanent homes as quickly as possible.
