Rescue FAQs

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. is a 100% volunteer-run organization. We are primarily based on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, with foster homes throughout Massachusetts, including the South Shore, Plymouth area, and Rhode Island. Unless otherwise noted, our dogs travel from the South to find loving homes here. We do our best to respond to every inquiry, but due to high volume and our all-volunteer team, this is not always possible. We truly appreciate your patience and support of rescue work. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a physical location for visits. We are a licensed Massachusetts rescue (License #0272) operating in full compliance with state regulations. We strongly encourage Massachusetts residents to visit the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) website to understand the laws regarding animal importation and licensed rescues. It is essential to adopt only from licensed organizations to remain compliant with state law. Important: If you live in Massachusetts, it is illegal to pick up a dog in Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, or New Hampshire if the dog is traveling from the South. All dogs must complete a minimum 48-hour quarantine at a Massachusetts-licensed organization or facility before entering a Massachusetts home.
