We are a 501[c][3] in central Kentucky [EIN 83-1189046].
CMF is an abbreviation for the Irish greeting, Cead Mille Failte (sounds like kayd meelah fallchaa) which means a hundred thousand welcomes. Our animal rescue and sanctuary is the story of four sisters who came to the aid of a wonderful, devoted caretaker of a little band of rescued animals - both dogs and cats, large and small, young and old, some with special needs - who was struggling to keep afloat after falling on hard times. Her spirit of compassion and dedication to these animals is exemplary; despite limited resources and personal struggles, every animal is well cared for and loved, from the tiny sick kitten to the old cats and dogs with medical issues that most people would throw away, as so many do. A hundred thousand welcomes captures the promise made to each one, to always meet their needs, provide a comfortable place to live, help them find good homes, and stand by them in their final years until it’s their time to go.
We are now able to take tax-deductable donations and qualify for assistance programs that will make CMF Animal Rescue and Sanctuary a sustainable provider of much-needed rescue services in an area flooded with abandoned animals. Our footprint is small, and will remain so; we have limited space and will never take in more animals than can be humanely housed and cared for. We will work diligently to search for and find homes for the adoptable dogs and cats that live here; we will network with other rescuers, organizations and fosters to help place animals in need that we can’t take in, and we will provide sanctuary and care for a limited number of elderly and special-needs animals that simply cannot be adopted.
We’re excited to be opening our doors to connect people willing to give their hearts and home to an animal that needs them, with those wonderful creatures that need our help to be noticed and brought out in the open for that connection to happen. Social media makes a lot of good things possible in the arena of animal rescue and adoption. We appreciate your support and hope you find our ongoing story an adventure worth following!
