Rescue FAQs

Coastal is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Virginia. We are a foster home based animal Shelter dedicated to finding loving new homes for unwanted, stray, and abandoned Shelties, Collies, Old English Sheepdogs, doodles and other small dogs. We serve Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia, eastern West Virginia, and south central Pennsylvania, and are staffed solely by volunteers. We also strive to educate the public about the characteristics of the herding breed and the rewards of giving a home to a rescued dog. The majority of the Coastal dogs are turned in to us by their previous owners.
We cover coastal Virginia, North Carolina, DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. We will help collies shelties, blue heelers, Corgis and other small Herding dogs.
