Meet our goofy guy named Sur! Sur is about 1.5 years old and he is a very sweet and silly boy! We don't know a lot about Sur's history before coming to our shelter, but we know he was passed around to a few different homes and he wasn't treated very nicely in some of them. We believe he is an Olde English Bulldogge mix. Sur has been nothing but outgoing and friendly with all of our staff since he came in to our care. He absolutely loves getting attention and butt scratches! Sur is a happy guy who already knows how to sit and lay down. He likes to lope after tennis balls in our backyard and bring them back to play. He can be a little jumpy at first, but he is not a super high energy boy. Sur would love to find a forever family who can show him what it's like to be in a real loving home! Sur has shown to be reactive toward other dogs here and gets overstimulated by them. At this time, we are looking for a home where he can be the only dog. Sur can go to a home with children 12 years old and older. MAC IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK (M-F 8-4pm) (Sat-Sun 10-4pm) Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. Appts to meet dogs can made to suit your schedule, please email/call for an appt. We do prefer to be contacted by email for adoption inquiries at Adopt@savingpawsct.org. The office phone number is 203-235-4179. Leave a message, and someone will call you back promptly. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal. Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments. ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME. Story
Rocco is 5 and a half years old and has been with us since he was a puppy. Mostly a couch potato, he does enjoy going for walks and playing fetch. He gives the best snuggles on the couch and is often stopped to be told how handsome he is. Now the reason we are looking to rehome: 3 years ago we had our first child and noticed Rocco become defensive. 6 months ago he got out of our yard and nipped someone walking by. We hired a trainer to come do a session with him to work on this aggressive behavior. We now have a second child and recently saw Rocco growl and show attitude towards our children. We are worried that he could become aggressive toward them. The ideal owner would be someone experienced with dogs who can give Rocco the attention and training he deserves and needs.
