· Intake Reason: surrendered, too much for previous owner to handleKnown with:· Cats: unknown· Dogs: played with neighbor's dog in previous home; does well in WCHS playgroups with calmer dogs· Kids: good with 9 & 10 yr old grandchildren in previous home, may knock over small children-doesn't know his own size· Personality: LOVES tennis balls and running around freely in our courtyardHi there, my name is Winston and I am a big goofball. I lived with a person for a little while but they realized I was a bit much for them so I came to WCHS to find a new home. I am a super friendly guy who is active and playful; I may be a tad gawky and even a smidge clumsy, but I am 100% lovebug. I truly enjoy spending time with people and like lots of companionship. I may weigh about 70 pounds but I still consider myself a lapdog. I am a sweet and sensitive pooch; some say I have a stubborn streak but I prefer to think of myself as an independent soul. I would respond well to patient obedience training using positive rewards and reinforcement. I already know the cue for ‘sit' and accept treats gently. It would be lovely for me to have good manners and social skills so I am welcome everywhere we go; I love car rides and would enjoy being your sidekick and travelling companion. I will need plenty of physical and mental exercise each day to keep me healthy and prevent boredom. In my previous home I had a nice fenced yard to romp in and that was a ton of fun; I like to run around. I must confess that I do need some practice with polite leash walking because I pull a bit on a leash. I had learned to go to my person when I needed to go outside to do my business and was still working on being 100% solid on house-training. When I come to my new home it would be wise to give me many opportunities to go outside to use the facilities and give me lots of praise and rewards when I potty in the proper place. I have been enjoying participating in the playgroups at the shelter. I started out being comfortable only with calm dogs but have been slowly starting to engage with some of the more active pups. Learning new skills and having new experience is a great way to boost a boy's confidence and I hope we can continue to build my self-esteem when I get to my new home. I am a happy and cheerful gentle giant who has many sides; calm and dignified, playful and silly, but always easygoing and reliable. I hope you stop by and ask to meet Winston; I love to make new friends and I think we could make a phenomenal family.#2
