Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Behavior Profile Color(s): BlueBlue—Has an energetic and boisterous nature.Could he do well with kids? Yes, with children around 12 years old on a kid-by-kid basis. There may need to be multiple meets.Could he do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Peak is a lovely boy eager to get out of his kennel today. Once he knows you, he walks well on a leash and enjoys being handled. Peak has a bubbly and playful personality; he loves to chase and even engages in a bit of tug-of-war. He can sit and wait, although he may be slightly put off by objects he`s never seen. However, with a little introduction and investigation, he settles down quickly. He does not show any tendencies to resource guard; instead, he wags his tail, just waiting for you to interact with him. Peak greeted the dog well during the dog-to-dog greeting. He initially laid down, but when they were about three feet apart, he stood up and approached without any rude behavior, which was excellent. His play was appropriate, and he did well with the other dog. Peak struggles a bit with stranger greetings. He appeared nervous and was unsure of what a stranger wanted from him. He gave a couple of growls and barks to let the person know to hold still while he checked them out. After some sniffing and investigation, he settled and sat right before the person. Although he wasn’t ready for any pets, he was okay with the person observing and talking to him. He may need multiple greetings to warm up to new people, but he has excellent potential for loving companionship.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617**Due to Lil Debbie needing spayed, her adoption will not be finalized until on or after: 3/29/25Behavior Profile Color(s): GreenGreen—Outgoing, a good option for first time dog owners.Could she do well with kids? Yes, on a kid-by-kid basis.Could she do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Lil Debbie performed well during her evaluation. She displays a sweet and submissive demeanor and fairly good leash manners, although she tends to zigzag in front of her handler, making walking in a straight line somewhat challenging. She generally does well in handling, although she can be sensitive about her feet and tail. She shows appropriate interest in her surroundings and people. She is proficient at cues like sit, down, wait, and come, responding positively to redirection once she understands what is being asked of her.Her interactions with people are gentle, although she can become a bit lively at times. While she is still learning how to engage with a variety of toys—primarily focusing on a tennis ball—she enjoys playing both with her handler and independently. She may react subtly to everyday objects, such as those resembling horses, but she quickly recovers.Lil Debbie is friendly and welcoming toward strangers, enthusiastically greeting everyone. While interacting with another dog, she initially approached them a bit assertively but demonstrated an ability to read the tester dog`s signals and appropriately give them space.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT
