It is unknown whether it was from an act of cruelty, a trap or a tragic accident, but the force of it left little more than a ragged stump. Out of agony and panic, I fought against being rescued, and some of my teeth were broken during the struggle. When I was found, a frightened puppy, Ella (also posted) was with me (but she was not mine), and thus we were rescued together. Come to find out we are half sisters. Same momma, different daddy.We were taken to the vet clinic, where I had surgery. Once we were stable, we were transported to our rescuers facility where we began our path to recovery.Though the trauma of everything has been particularly difficult for me, I have found solace in a soft bed, nutritious food, and the comforting presence of my bonded companion, Ella. In the company of the other playful and relaxed refuge dogs, I have been gradually regaining trust.I am not known to bark. While wary of unfamiliar humans and other dogs and will run away if pursued, you can get me in the house with gentle encouragement, once I trust you. So, still shy and prefer my buddy, Ella's company. However, I allow interaction without scurrying away from my rescuers now. If you will allow me the time to trust, I will continue to improve.I am a really sweet and passive pup. My rescuers determined to show ne that not all humans and dogs are a threat and that I am safe in their care. I flinch less now when petted, but still skulk when entering and leaving the house.I have adjusted to life without a tail. I may not have much more than a stump now, but I wiggle it with joy when happy.  I am slso used to living among humans and housemates.I am currently being leash trained. I prefer to sleep alone, with Ella sleeping nearby. It would be especially sweet, if Ella and me could be adopted together. We are listed as a bonded pair, but could potentially go to separate homes, as well.I am a fairly low maintenance dog, who doesn't require a lot of walking time. I am undemanding in my needs, so will make an easy dog for someone to incorporate into their home. I'd do best with another non-dominate type dog, so I am not pushed around. Once we were stable, we were transported to our rescuers facility where we began our path to recovery.Taylor and I tend to sit on the sidelines when there are activities and games with the other shelter dogs. The boisterous, young labbies are a bit much and bully us a bit, since we are passively vulnerable yet. We have separate playtime and sleeping areas from them thankfully.I am a bit more active and playful than Taylor. Taylor sleeps on a small sofa, whils they give me a blanket to sleep on the floor, because I pull the stuffing out of dog beds and cushions. I likely do this either because I am still in my puppy stage, or it could be in reaction to the overcrowded environment at the refuge. Iimagine time in a relaxed home of my own will end up alleviating that.While a bit timid yet, I am playful with Taylor and small or older dogs, though occasionally I will nip at a smaller dog. Could that be you? Read below to see if we're a good match!My rescuers heard my cries for help one day. They found me chained to a broken doghouse, I had no food or water. It was very hot and I had no shade. I was in a desperate situation, one might say. My current owner at the time had decided to cover me in motor oil as well, under the belief that it would get rid of mange. Fortunately, my rescuers took me home with them where they helped clean the oil off of me. My eyes were red and swollen, the smell of the oil was awful and was hard on my sensitive skin and nose.My previous owner had me chained up outside for most of my life, and saw me as an outside dog year around. I was allowed to accompany them on hunting trips, but apart from that, I was sentenced to a life chained up in a yard.Although I am 12, my previous owner still used me for breeding, doing so every 6 months to sell my pups. Fortunately my rescuers got me fixed to protect my health.When they brought me home, I was stiff from being chained up all the time. I was in a new environment and isolated myself from the other dogs in the home. My rescuer says I am good with dogs, I just needed some time to recover from my previous situation, so can be a little tentative at first.All this to say, I am very much ready for a loving home! I seek companionship, I want to accompany you on your errands, walks, adventures, and cuddles. I’m looking for a safe home, I promise to be very loyal, I will wait for you to return from the store, but I can get a bit vocal when anxious. I am very obedient off leash!
