Story
Our elder cocker-spaniel mix, Lily, is in need of a dog-free home. She is a playful, smart, healthy pup who loves going on walks, snuggling up with people, and engaging in a good nose puzzle. She's 10 years old and just shy of 40 pounds. She's lived with us her entire life. As she's gotten older, she has grown less and less tolerant of other dogs, including the other dog in our home, despite having lived peacefully with him for many years when they were both younger. At the recommendation of our trainer and our vet, we are looking for a place where she can thrive. Lily has always lived well with cats and has never been aggressive toward people at all. This has been an extremely hard decision, but we know she will be happier as the solo dog in her space. (For several reasons, rehoming our other dog is not an option.) Hey there! Im Louise - Im an 11 year old lady with a lot of love to give! I came to Animal Aid after one of my guardians passed away and I needed some TLC to get back on track to a healthy life. I previously lived with other senior spaniels, so I wouldn't mind having a chill buddy. I can also live with cats without issue. My hobbies include cuddling on the couch, watching TV, and post-snooze zoomies. I have an irregular heartbeat that was recently checked by a cardiologist. The good news is that it's not bothering me, and I don't need any medications or activity restrictions right now. I will need a follow up cardio screening in January of 2027 to make sure nothing has progressed. I also take some meds to manage skin allergies that will probably be continued, and like many spaniels, it's not uncommon for me to get ear infections. My love languages are quality time and physical touch. I absolutely love getting some good rubs, but if you forget then dont worry, Ill remind you! I also love to walk outside in the sun, play with my squeaky toys, and chase down a laser pointer every now and then. I may do best in a home with a yard because I really don't like to potty on walks. I would also prefer a home where someone is around most of the time. I do alright alone, but I'm a velcro dog and would love to follow someone around most of the time. I'm in a foster home, so please fill out an application at animalaidpdx.com to meet me! Est. Ellie here! I'm the (soon-to-be) one-eyed wonder with a love of everyone I meet. I'm a cuddly, adventerous, and joyful pup, and I'm so excited to meet you. I was originally rescued at the vet because my previous owner was unable to provide the healthcare I needed. Since moving in with my awesome foster, I've been groomed and got all the vet care I need. As you can probably see, I've got advanced glaucoma in one eye. We're going to get that removed so that it does not cause any more pain. I'm mostly blind, but that doesn't stop me from loving life and making friends. I also have a mild heart murmur that has been thouroughly checked out and is nothing to worry about at this time. I do great with dogs and people of all ages. I'm not sure how I'd feel about cats, but the people caring for me seem to think I wouldn't mind them. I enjoy lots of quality time with my people, going on regular walks, and listening to the sounds of the neighborhood. I may look like a senior, but I've got plenty of good years ahead of me. Animal Aid is dedicated to ensuring I recieve all necessary medical care before sending me home with my forever family, so I'll most likely need to recover from the eye removal before going home. I will eventually need a dental that Animal Aid will pay for. Want to meet me and fall in love?
