Story
Meet Benny The Jet Rodriguez!   Benny is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section). Born in mid-November 2024, Benny is a black and white mixed-breed (best guess is Border Collie and Pointer) puppy with sweet eyes who we estimate will be a medium dog when full grown. Benny traveled with his mom and siblings (the Sandlot Litter) from the Brazoria SPCA in Texas to find a new home in the PNW area. We are currently taking applications for Benny, and he will be able to go home with an adopter after his neuter surgery on or about February 20, 2025. Benny has just arrived at our rescue and is settling into a foster home where he will begin potty, leash, and obedience training. We will be learning more about Benny in the coming days, so please check back for more information! In the meantime, Benny is spending his days romping, cuddling, and getting lots of playtime, love, and new adventures with his foster family. He is growing into a healthy, active, affectionate pup ready for his new home. Want to meet Benny The Jet Rodriguez? Fill out an inquiry form or visit our website for more information! What is Path of Hope Rescue’s Adoption Process? Our adoption process takes on average 7-10 days. Begin by completing the online application. Meet your potential pup at the home of the foster family (the process may differ slightly for long distance adopters). Bring your potential pup home for a no commitment In Home Trial. In Home Trials are a minimum of (2) nights for a puppy and one week for an adult. Your Matchmaker will check in with you during this time. Sign the adoption paperwork and adopt your new family member! Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue Our adoption process sets us apart. We specialize in learning about you and your family to find just the right fit for you. Our Matchmakers are not only good at what they do; they will also guide you through the entire process. Our Minimum Adoption Donation is $550 for puppies under a year and $450 for dogs a year and older. We are a WA state registered non-profit and rely heavily on adoption donations to cover the expenses associated with saving lives. Our dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption; microchipped with free lifetime registration; and up to date on DAPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccinations (when age appropriate) and deworming and heartworm treatment/prevention. Adopters can also earn a $100 training refund if they attend (6) hours of any in person training course. Long Distance adopters (one hour or more from Spokane) may choose to travel to Spokane to pick up their dog or use our monthly transport option, Puppy Delivery Express, for an additional delivery donation of $250. Puppy Delivery Express currently delivers dogs throughout Washington and to parts of Montana, Idaho, and Oregon. About Path of Hope Rescue At Path of Hope Rescue, our goal is to make EVERY DOG. WANTED. Our two employees and army of volunteers focus on transporting pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas, the number one kill state in America. The dogs we rescue are in poor living conditions and on euthanasia lists in shelters that are inundated with unwanted animals. We want to give these dogs a chance and bring them to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive, loving homes. We are 100% foster based; our dogs are fostered in loving homes where they are house and crate trained and learn basic obedience and leash skills. Dogs experience socialization opportunities with people, places, and other animals, and they receive the attention required to become well-rounded, healthy, and affectionate dogs that they would not otherwise receive in a shelter environment. Our commitment does not end when the dog is adopted. Path of Hope offers post adoption owner support including information on making the dog’s transition to your home a smooth one; recommendations for Preferred Trainers; advice on pet behavior and wellness topics; Facebook litter groups to keep in touch with fellow adopters; and invitations to local rescue hosted events. Story
You’re killing me, Smalls! Meet Ham! Ham is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section). Born in mid-November 2024, Ham is a black and white mixed-breed puppy (best guess is Border Collie and Pointer) with cute dark smudges on his nose who we estimate will be a medium size when grown. Ham traveled with his mom and siblings (the Sandlot Litter) from the Brazoria SPCA in Texas to find a new home in the PNW area. We are currently taking applications for Ham, and he will be able to go home with an adopter after his neuter surgery on or about February 20, 2025. Our Ham will slay you with his adorable and goofy nature (which classic border collie traits like intelligence, athleticism, and friendliness). This affectionate, funny puppy loves to play and will entertain himself with all the dog toys (athleticism). He enjoys running around and chasing after the ball. Ham has also created his own game (intelligence). He’ll toss a toy in front of him, then stop and stare at it before pouncing on the hapless victim.  Ham has done well meeting new people and older children in his foster home, and he loves to give you kisses (friendliness). Ham has mastered the art of cuddling, and after his play, he cherishes some snuggles or a nap with an obliging human. Ham seems to love everything and everybody, except having to wait for his meals (he is a growing, active, and hungry boy after all). Ham has started to put his smarts to use (he probably knows how to make a s’more, unlike Smalls). He is learning how to behave on a leash and has begun crate and potty training (he is still little and wakes during the night). He will begin learning his basic obedience commands shortly. Ham’s ideal home? He would love to be on your team, and he wouldn’t need you to keep score. Ham seeks a home with people to love who will love him in return and ensure he learns the skills that will make him a happy and well-balanced dog. A human who will take him for walks and throw the ball and other toys for him checks all the boxes. Ham would thrive with kids, cats, and dogs in the home, and a warm place for a nap would be lovely. If this sounds like your home, Ham is ready to call his shot and hit a home run with you! Want to meet Ham? Fill out an inquiry form or visit our website for more information! Story
Follow your heart to The Babe! Meet The Babe! The Babe is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section). The Babe is the mama of our Sandlot litter; she and her four puppies traveled from the Brazoria SPCA in Texas to the PNW area for a second chance at life after landing on the euthanasia list. Born in January of 2023, The Babe is a mixed breed (best guess is Border Collie and Pointer), medium size dog with black and white markings and sweet, friendly eyes. We are taking applications for The Babe now, and she will be able to go home with an adopter once she has been spayed, around February 20, 2025. To quote Babe Ruth in the Sandlot, follow your heart and you’ll never go wrong. That’s how we feel about the adopter who chooses The Babe. This mama has a heart of gold and a love for people and toys. Shortly after arriving at our intake, The Babe scoped out all the toys and quickly selected a few favorites! She adores playing Tug of War with the teens in her foster home; after a bout of playing, The Babe likes nothing more than to settle in for a good cuddle. While she prefers to snuggle with a person, she’ll burrow into a blanket if that is the only option. The Babe is potty trained already, and she has gotten along very well with several new dogs she has encountered since her arrival (including the border collie in her foster home). This darling girl is ready to be the star of your team! Everybody gets one chance to do something great, says Babe Ruth in the film. Maybe adopting our Babe is something great you can do!
