Meet WONDERFUL! Wonderful is a gorgeous 8 month old, 45 pound, tricolored (black, white and brown) English Shepherd/Hound mix. Her freckled nose, sleek lanky frame, rich black and very white coat, and thick black tail with its white tip add to her beautiful looks. She is very sweet and lovable and is crate trained. While Wonderful has puppy playfulness, she settles down to cuddle with you and hang out. She does fine with other dogs and people of all ages! Wonderful loves to go for walks! She will need exercise, patience and reinforcement of basic training so this young smart dog can become the well-behaved dog she can be. Wonderful ended up at a rural North Carolina shelter, and we can only imagine how she wondered why her family did not come find her and take her home. She is so happy that PetConnect has come to her rescue and brought her to the DC area to find a forever family that will give her the attention that she deserves. Wonderful would love to curl up with you to hang out on a cool spring night! She would be an excellent new member of the active family! ***Please note that the first step is to fill out an application (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Wonderful is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. Dennis came to our Farm 2 years ago with his litter of rescue pups from a farm in Pennsylvania. We actually thought he was a girl because he was so beautiful-but a quick check proved otherwise. We had a lot of rescue dogs that year (2023) and a few of them have remained here longer than we had hoped. We just could not risk putting them into an "iffy" shelter situation. Dennis has been in a large kennel and plays with other dogs in a large play yard. He has not had a lot of time by himself with people but seems to want a special one on one relationship with his own forever human(s).He is super smart and very alert to what is going on around him and gets along well with the other dogs on the farm.He loves to walk on leash and travels well in a crate. He would make a great farm dog or best buddie

Story
Dixie is an 8-year-old sweet girl who is looking for a calm, loving home. I adopted her from a farm in Frederick, MD, where she had been rescued from a difficult start in life. Despite that, she has come a long way. She can be anxious around loud noises or chaotic environments, so she would do best in a quiet home without young children. Dixie gets along with male dogs but tends to get really nervous around female dogs. She thrives in a stable, predictable environment. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for us. My husband and I are currently living in a home that does not allow dogs, and Dixie has been living with my parents. Unfortunately, they're no longer able to care for her long-term, and it may be several years before we're in a position to bring her home. We want her to find a patient, understanding home where she can feel safe and relaxed.
