Story
One look at this face, and you’d think, “No way did someone put her in a shelter.” And yet… they did.
Why? Who knows. Maybe they lost a bet. Maybe they don’t like happiness. I’m sure they had their reasons, but whatever they were, they landed poor Pollie in a seriously unfair situation. Luckily, fate (and her foster mom’s big heart) had other plans. The moment she saw Pollie, she knew this girl was her next mission. And just like that, Pollie was busted out of doggie jail and back on the road to her well-deserved happily ever after!
Pollie is a stunning 2-year-old, 69lb English Shepherd who’s just too good for her own good. She does well with other dogs and cats. Kids? Well, she hasn’t had the pleasure of their company yet, but as long as they’re not using her as a personal jungle gym or a tug-of-war toy, she’s probably fine. When it comes to other dogs, Pollie is all about the “no-drama” lifestyle. If someone tries to stir the pot, she’s perfectly capable of setting them straight. But for the ones that aren’t out to ruin her zen, she’s down for some fun and games. As for cats? Sure, they’re little jerks sometimes, but she’s honestly too busy living her best life to care. She’ll just let them babble on while she does her own thing, living in peaceful indifference. Basically, Pollie’s got a “don’t start none, won’t be none” attitude—and we’re here for it. When it comes to meeting new people, Pollie is basically the canine version of the life of the party. If you’re a human, she’s your new best friend, and she’s not shy about it. She’ll be right there, wagging her tail and soaking up all the attention—because, let’s face it, why wouldn’t she? People are awesome.
Pollie’s energy level is a solid 5 out of 10—so, think of a sloth on an espresso shot mixed with the mellow vibes of a cat who’s been fed three times today. She’s not running marathons, but she’s definitely not napping through life either. Her one-car ride experience involved her chilling in the back seat like a seasoned traveler, probably wishing she had a tiny pillow for added comfort. If you’re thinking of adventures, she’s all in. Cafes? Sure. Stores? Why not. Trails? Let’s go! But if you give her a choice, she’ll opt for running around the yard and playing with her doggie friends over a walk any day. And the leash? Yeah, she used to see that thing and go into full “I'm not dealing with that today” mode. It’s getting better, though. With some fun, adventurous walks, she might eventually come around to the idea that leashes aren’t the enemy. Or, you know, she’ll just keep pretending they are—because she’s Pollie, and she does what she wants.
Pollie is a quirky, attention-loving goofball who’s all about playtime—whether it’s with other dogs or toys, she’s in her element. But here’s the deal: while she’s not exactly bouncing off the walls with energy, she’s definitely a fan of zoomies in the yard over being tied to a leash. She would much rather tear around the backyard like it’s her own personal racetrack than deal with the whole “leash” situation all the time. So, while leash walks are fine, they’re not her ideal workout routine. Pollie would thrive best in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely run wild, stretch those legs, romp around with the other dogs, and live her best zoomie life.
When it comes to house manners, Pollie is basically the epitome of a “proper lady.” She’s potty trained—no surprise there—and has never needed to be kenneled. Yep, you heard that right. You can leave the house without worrying that your belongings are about to be reduced to confetti by this sweet girl. She’s way too sophisticated for that. Now, while she does enjoy the occasional couch cuddle session (who can resist?), you’ll be relieved to know she doesn’t live there like some dogs we know. Pollie isn’t a big barker, either—she doesn’t waste her time yelling at imaginary squirrels or getting into a barking match with a gust of wind. But if the other dogs start up, she’ll graciously join in, because she can’t risk losing her cool status by not participating. Don’t worry, though—she won’t be the one barking at every leaf that dares to blow past the window.
If you’re looking for a dog who’s got all the charm, grace, and zero interest in tearing up your house—Pollie’s your girl. Don’t waste any more time reading about her greatness, though. Go ahead, fill out that adoption app at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app, and let’s get this girl to her forever home. We’ll send it straight to her foster family, so they can see how excited you are (and, honestly, how much you need her in your life). Just remember—if you’re thinking about adopting, you’ll need to pick her up in Kiowa, OK. Yes, that’s right, Kiowa. Don’t worry, Pollie’s totally worth the trip.
