Story
Meet Milo! This 5 year old, 40 pound, Miniature Australian Shepherd is ready to meet his forever family! This spunky boy is looking for someone who can be his best friend while accommodating his high energy needs.Due to Milo’s breed, he likes to have a job to focus on each day. Sometimes, he thinks his job is to manage the people around him. This can manifest in being nitpicky around children and he’ll want to correct their behavior and can become frustrated when this doesn’t go his way. For this reason, he should go to a home with kids 13 years and older. Aside from these behaviors, Milo loves being around people and receiving all the love and attention he can get! Milo was crate trained as a puppy but it’s not his favorite spot to be. He prefers to free roam the house and does very well. He adjusts quickly to new surroundings but has anxiety that’s well managed by daily medication. It’s important that Milo’s forever family will be one that’s dedicated to managing his anxiety long-term.Milo does great with other dogs but prefers them to be more submissive than him in size and personality. He likes to be the boss! He’d likely do well with another dog in the home given the right dynamics are in place. We aren’t sure how he’d do around cats long-term. He’s had short interactions with them and is largely disinterested. This smart boy enjoys a moderate to high activity level to stimulate him each day. For this reason, he would like a home that can give him a couple walks a day with additional playtime in between. He does well with a tie-out so a fenced yard is not required.Milo’s ready to meet his forever family! With lots of love and activity, he will be the ultimate best friend anyone could ask for. Story
Snapshot of Teddy: Size? Medium to Large Activity Level? I play hard and snuggle harder! Noise Level? Usually quiet - but sometimes I will bark to let you know when something is happening. Good with Dogs? Yes! I would love a playmate. Good with Cats? Yes! Good with Kids? I love kids! But sometimes knock down the little ones unintentionally.  Good with Strangers? Yes! Potty Trained? Almost there! Crate Trained? Still learning, sometimes I bark when I first go into my crate but I quiet down. Shedding? Some About Teddy: Teddy is an absolutely beautiful chocolate colored border collie mix. He started his life out in a hoarding house with over 20 other animals so he's had very little training. But despite that, he is a REALLY sweet boy. He loves to be with his people, chew on stuffies, and run around in the snow. We've been working on kennel training and he's doing really well! He will often need some convincing to go into his crate. But once he's in, he's quiet and calm. We currently crate him at night, during meal time, when we're gone, and for short periods throughout the day so that he can get used to being in there during the day time if his future family works outside of the home. Potty training has been going well too! He waits by the door 80% of the time and is really good about getting his business done first and then playing once we're outside. This has been really helpful because this dog loooooves the snow! He prances around our yard and loves to chase the other dogs. We've noticed that as he has settled in more, his energy level has increased so having the ability to let him run as much as he wants has been really great. We haven't taken him on walks because he was pretty timid when he first arrived then the holiday chaos happened. But he will need some work on leash walking if his future family prefers walks over free play in a fenced yard! I'm sure he would love walks with his family though. Teddy has done well with our dogs (they're his size or smaller) and has been respectful of our cats. He will occasionally try to push out cats out of their napping spot and they respond with a hiss. But he reacts appropriately and finds a new spot to snooze. We have young kids as well and he sometimes knocks them over unintentionally or mistakes their toys for his. But that's the only "issues" we've had! He doesn't mind the loud noises or unexpected movements and really loves when they give him extra pets! He also redirects to an appropriate chew toy easily. Teddy loves to be where his people are and will follow us from room to room. He will also try to be a lap dog occasionally. But he is generally pleased just to be in your presence. Surprisingly, he doesn't bark a lot! He will join in if our dogs are barking at the delivery driver or at a squirrel outside and will sometimes whine/howl when he first goes in his crate. But that's about it. Overall, Teddy has been an excellent housemate despite his initially rough start to life. He would love a family that wants to snuggle with him regularly and doesn't mind him being present for all of your daily household activities. He would love a fenced yard to run in or an active house that wants to help him learn to walk on a leash. Teddy loves the companionship of our dogs and would do best in a home with another young, playful dog. But he may also do fine as an only dog if his human is home regularly. Teddy is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age.
