UPDATE ON NULA!!! This is Nula and she will need a home with an above ground securely fenced yard as she has ever been on leash and remains very fearful of people and is considered a flight risk at this time. Nula is an English shepherd/ Lab mix who loves the outdoors. (see DNA results in pictures section) is new to her foster home and they have a WONDERFUL update... "I’ve been fostering her for only 5 days and she’s already proving to be a diamond in the rough! While she was timid when she first arrived, she was cuddling with her new big brother by the end of the evening... AND, she has been fine with my indoor cats too. She helped me wrapChristmas gifts, as she loves to be a part of everything! She was one of the seized dogs in the Spencer County hoarding case and I couldn’t resist having DNA testing done. Turns out she is 45% English Shepherd, 34% yellow lab. They suspect Ruby is her mother. Her behavior, temperament, EVERYTHING screams English Shepherd. (If you have one of the dogs who have a similar appearance to Nula, I’d be curious to compare characteristics!) Nula loves talking long walks, especially enjoying sniffing all the incredible smells in nature. She has boundless energy and loves running after and herding her canine friends both young and old. When she’s not playing she can be found curled up napping on mommy’s side of the bed. Nula is crate trained, potty trained, knows some basic commands and is great with dogs and cats. She doesn’t guard toys or food. Nula would enjoy a family that enjoys spending lots of time outdoors. She is as sweet as can be and loves to play outside and go hiking. I’ve already done a couple 3+ mile hikes with her, with energy to spare. Although her silky blonde coat is sparse, it’s going to be so beautiful when it grows back. When she finds her forever home, she really would do best with a 4-legged buddy who can help show her the ropes!" A beacon of hope shines bright as GRRAND and animal advocates across the commonwealth collaborate to help rescue animals trapped in a devastating hoarding situation on a rural County Kentucky farm. Advocates eagerly await justice for the abused animals and the swift rescue of those still suffering in inhumane conditions. It's awful to think of the terrible lives and abuse they have been subjected to. We have extremely high vet expenses for these dogs and really need ongoing donations to pay for all their care and we are also in desperate need of foster homes for these dogs. Maestro is a handsome young lad estimated around 5 years of age and believed to be an English Shepherd. Maestro found himself at the shelter as a stray and his past is a mystery. Maestro has taken some time to come around to having new humans in his life and is now ready to look for a home of his own. Maestro is a playful, goofy, loyal, and game-y young guy who is looking for a close bond and lots of adventures. Maestro is still learning how to trust new humans and requires a slow, patient introduction preferably during a walk. He loves going on walks and hikes and is a very active young guy - he is particularly fond of exploring muddy ponds. Maestro does have some herding dog tendencies such as circling and wanting to be very mouth on that require understanding and redirection. Maestro is a loving and eager to please guy that is going to thrive with structured socialization and building his library of compassionate experiences. Maestro is learning that the care isn't scary and doing a wonderful job although they aren't his favorite yet. Maestro is very weary of children and is not recommended for a home with children under 13 years old. Maestro is very dog savvy and lives with a variety of other personalities. He does a great job of navigating play groups and respecting the boundaries of other dogs. He currently prefers trying to play with his preferred humans but is figuring out how to play with the other dogs over time. Maestro has not met any small dogs or cats at this time. Maestro is searching for a home that values his herding skills and loyalty that can guide him in his ongoing socialization and adventure seeking. Crystal Symphony is a beautiful female estimated around 5-6 years of age. She was found as a stray and has an unknown background. Her conformation and personality speak to a possible English Shepherd pedigree but that is a question we will never really know the answer to. Crystal is a great girl who is a volunteer favorite for her loyal nature and fun personality. Crystal draws a tight circle around her heart and takes a bit to warm up to the idea of new friends but once you're in it is for life. Crystal loves her people and you couldn't ask for a more attentive, eager to please dog. Crystal is best described as 'gamey' which is to say she sees nearly everything as a fun game and is always looking for something to get into. Crystal can easily jump a 4 ft fence and happily does so to switch play groups at her foster home. She is an athletic and energetic girl who will need either leash walked or a solid fence to ensure her safety. Crystal is not comfortable around children and would prefer a home without kids. Crystal is around other dogs in her foster home and does very well. She has a bossy personality and likes to try to round up the other dogs but they tolerate her well. She has a few that she enjoys roughhousing with and overall seems to have a good understanding of dog social manners. Crystal is well mannered and quiet when meeting new dogs while out on walks. Crystal has met some GSD puppies around 10 lbs and thought they were strange little playmates but ultimately did great with them. Crystal is NOT cat friendly. Crystal is an active and adventurous Shepherd who is looking for a family that will help her learn to trust the world and show her all the fun sides of life.
