Story
Kala is a 2-year old 45-pound tricolor mixed breed who is a loyal companion as well as a playmate and snuggle bug. This incredibly sweet girl is ready to find her forever people! While she can be a little shy at first and takes a moment to warm up to new faces, once you’re in her inner circle, you’re there for life. She is a total people person for her family and will shower you with all the love she’s been saving up. Kala has a fun, energetic side and would thrive in a home with another similar-sized dog who loves to run, wrestle, and play just as much as she does! While she will play hard running around and playing fetch, she’s just as happy hanging out at home and people watching on the street outside her house. She rarely barks and gets so excited when she sees her family coming to the front door. Kala is excellent on a leash and her foster family has been working closely with a trainer to increase her confidence and give her even better manners on walks, making neighborhood strolls happy and enjoyable. Kala will be a great addition to any family. Because she values a predictable environment while she gets her bearings, she would be happiest in a home with no children or children ages 10 and up. While she gets initially nervous when new people enter her space or approach her, a little bit of time and space (and treats!) give her the confidence to be their friend (and she’ll soon be politely asking for chin scratches). Watching Kala continuing to blossom into a confident, loving dog will be the ultimate reward for her forever family. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Sabrina is an amazing dog who just needs someone willing to work with her. She is amazing with children (just needs work on being too excited around small children She absolutely loves sniff walks and fetch to wear her out and work her brain. She will need a more involved owner who understands her needs. She’s got some unique quirks that make her even more special! She needs a very slow introduction to other dogs but has been able to play with and be around some other non dominant dogs. She does have Addison disease which is kept in control with a monthly injection. She would benefit from a forever home with someone who can keep up with that and give her a calm loving environment to spend her golden years.
