Story
TJ is 6 years young and he is a sweet, shy, sensitive Velcro boy. He has been living with a female fur-sister. They enjoy running in the yard together but when it comes to inside snuggle times with Dad, TJ wants his time and space for this.  His first owner was a hunter who passed away. Then he went to another hunting kennel where it was determined that TJ is NOT a hunter and they contacted rescue to find him a non-hunting home as a pet/family member.  TJ is looking for a calmer, quiet home. Another active dog for him to run with would be ideal and would help him settle into a new home. He’s never been an only dog so he would want a person that is mostly home if you don’t have another dog. Young children make him nervous so definitely a quieter home without kids. He is affectionate and appreciates cuddles and physical assurances that everything is ok.  TJ needs a home with a secure physically fenced yard that is large enough and interesting for him to run/work/explore/play with another active dog buddy. We’ve always had him in 6 foot privacy fencing and we aren’t sure how he would do in shorter fencing. His foster Dad says “he is lightning fast” and needs a home where doors and gates are kept closed and secure. He has a typical prey drive for an field ES and has never lived with cats so we do not expect him to be safe with cats.   TJ has adapted to being a house dog well. He is eager to learn, wants to please and is treat motivated. Are you the home that TJ is waiting for?      November 2, 2024, 12:58 pm

Story
Kris is a very handsome 7 1/2 year young, long and lean orange and white pup that was left in a rural shelter.  The shelter contacted SWESR and he was brought  into rescue.  He had skin issues, probably a flea allergy since he was infested, and was a tad underweight.  He has gained just a bit of weight and his coat is soft and fluffy now. Kris is doing great in foster care and he is crate and house trained.   He is interested in cats and may chase if he encounters one that runs from him.   Kris pulls on leash and would really benefit from some leash training.  He is walking better using an Easy Leash harness. He enjoys furniture privileges and sleeps in bed with his foster human at night.  He very gratefully settles in and seldom moves throughout the night.  Kris seems to get along with most other dogs and plays very happily with the other two neutered male Setters in his foster home.  He came from a family that had two female Setters and they got along well.   Kris does have the capability to climb any fence.  He scales chain link like it is a ladder and has gotten over a 6 foot stockade fence.  The problem is easily solved by going outside with him. He cannot be left alone outdoors ever, even with other dogs.  Kris will need a human to watch him.  He is not a candidate for an apartment, he really needs to be able to run and stretch his legs in a secure fenced yard. He is very sensitive and will come when you call him as he doesn’t want to disappoint you.  He is on the high-medium level of setter activity.  Kris would make a good running mate but he settles easily in the house.  He is very funny and playful with the other dogs and doesn’t mind curling up next to them for a spot on the sofa.  His favorite place to be is next to the human in the house though.  Kris is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. He is in a foster home in Edmond, OK. Won’t you consider Kris for your next family member?November 25, 2024, 3:58 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Max is a three year old tri-color neutered male ES.  He belonged to one owner since he was an 8 week old puppy.  He mostly lived outside and liked to go on adventures with his female littermate.  She was the likely ringleader in the breakouts from the fence and led the pair on jaunts around the neighborhood.  Because of his love of escaping he’ll need a home with a secure yard and 6 foot + no climb fencing. Max is a pretty low key guy who is happy outside or inside.  He does not seem to have a significant drive to hunt and seems to prefer sunbathing in the yard and curling up on the sofa.   Max is in a foster home with other Setter boys and gets along well with them.  He has also met a much smaller female dog that he likes and once he got over his incredulity at his size, he also likes a very large Bernese mix.  Max has not been tested with cats, but does not seem to have a massive prey drive.   Max is a bit of a resource guarder with his people and while he is getting attention curled up on the sofa, he warns other dogs to stay away.  He does not seem to do this outside or when he is in his crate.  He is fed in his crate so there is no conflict with his foster siblings.  Max is not a big barker but he does like to get up and go outside in the morning, then come in for breakfast soon after.  He will bark in his crate until he gets what he wants in the mornings.  He likes his routines.   Max is fairly gentle on leash though he gets most of his exercise in the backyard with foster siblings, not on regular walks.  He would enjoy regular walks with his person.  He also loves to ride in the car and jumps right in and settles in for the ride.  Max is working on his house training and is not 100% on providing cues to go outside yet but he’s working on it.  The yard at his foster home has a 6 foot stockade fence and he has never tried to dig or climb out.   Max is on the small side even for a field setter and currently weighs 42 pounds.  He has a very sweet and gentle nature and is loved by anyone that meets him. He is up to date on all vaccinations and is microchipped. Max is in a foster home in OKC, Ok.     November 2, 2024, 12:58 pm

Story
Cooper is a kind, loving & caring golden retriever. He’s five years old and is wonderful with children. He is fully potty trained & house trained. We got Cooper from Pet Land in Dallas, TX and have since had four children. We are looking to re home Cooper to a new owner who is able to provide him a mostly inside home life. He is an outside dog at our current home due to the number of kids we have and the space of our home. However, we live in the hill country and Cooper has allergies which is very common in dogs. Since he isn’t able to be an inside dog, he gets regular ear infections at our home (one every couple of months), so we would like to see him at a home who can allow him mostly indoors. He recently popped a blood vessel in his ear due to scratching from an ear infection - the vet said the ear will heal on its own. Cooper has a sensitive stomach, but we have found a dog food that works and there are no issues as long as he stays on his dog food.

Story
WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Violet - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Looking for a new FBF (furry best friend)? Look no further than Violet (hey, hey, that's me!) and I'm here looking to adopt me a family, a home...one I can say will be all mine! And since you're reading this, I'm hoping that you'll consider making ME a part of yours!!!! Me and my siblings were dumped in a rural area along side a busy highway. Scared to death we took refuge in an abandoned house to try to brave the elements. Some neighbors noticed us and came to give us food and water and they called this wonderful rescue. The first few months of my young life was not so great, but I'm learning. I'm learning that not all people are bad and that pets and kind words are kinda really nice. I is ready to start this next chapter in life with a family that will have lots of patience, treats and gentle pets so I can give back lots of puppy kisses and tail wags!! I have got a really sweet nature that does love to run around and play with my siblings, so to set me up for success I will need a quiet home without smaller children but that has a playful '4 legged sibling' for me to follow around and take my ques from them. Mom may be a Golden Retriever mix and dad was a traveling salespup sweet talking his way through town! I will probably be around 50 - 60 lb area when I get myself fully growed up. I want to be sooooo ready be that lil heartbeat at your feet, and with a little time and a lot of love, I know I'll be there. So, if you think you can help me be a pawsome fit for you and your lifestyle, please stop scrolling and fill out my adoption application! It can be found at haydudeequine.org This lil family includes - Paprika, Sage, Oregano, Basil, Poppy, Rose, Violet and BlueBonnet
