Story
URGENT! Due to a new law enacted in my country, the rescuers can't retain the refuge, so dogs need homes before the end of the year. Please help. Hello! My name is QUEENIE. Here is some info about me:Breed: English SetterAge: 12 yrsGender: FemaleWeight: 60 lbs (27 kg)Height: 23-1/2 inches (60 cm)Country of Origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlights: obedient, bit anxious, tentative, inquisitive, devoted I'm a very devoted girl and am ready for a loving home! Could that be you? Read below to see if we're a good match! My rescuers heard my cries for help one day. They found me chained to a broken doghouse, I had no food or water. It was very hot and I had no shade. I was in a desperate situation, one might say. My current owner at the time had decided to cover me in motor oil as well, under the belief that it would get rid of mange. Fortunately, my rescuers took me home with them where they helped clean the oil off of me. My eyes were red and swollen, the smell of the oil was awful and was hard on my sensitive skin and nose.My previous owner had me chained up outside for most of my life, and saw me as an outside dog year around. I was allowed to accompany them on hunting trips, but apart from that, I was sentenced to a life chained up in a yard.Although I am 12, my previous owner still used me for breeding, doing so every 6 months to sell my pups. Fortunately my rescuers got me fixed to protect my health. When they brought me home, I was stiff from being chained up all the time. I was in a new environment and isolated myself from the other dogs in the home. My rescuer says I am good with dogs, I just needed some time to recover from my previous situation, so can be a little tentative at first. All this to say, I am very much ready for a loving home! I seek companionship, I want to accompany you on your errands, walks, adventures, and cuddles. I’m looking for a safe home, I promise to be very loyal, I will wait for you to return from the store, but I can get a bit vocal when anxious. I am very obedient off leash! I just want to be with a caring and compassionate owner. Also, being an inquisitive girl, I like to watch what you are doing. Maybe you can show me some tricks. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks, btw.Given my age, I no longer have the puppy zoomies, I have a low to moderate energy level. I would do best in a home that can meet all my needs (food, water, shelter, a dog bed inside perhaps?!?). I would be happy to hang with you while you watch tv, but would also love to come for walks and errands. Energy level: moderate-lowI get along with:Dogs: YesCats: UnsureKids: Yes Prey drive: Unknown. Adopter should to be willing to seek out training assistance should such issues arise.Fears: I was mistreated by my previous owner when they were intoxicated. Intoxicated behaviour triggers my fear. I lacked food and water in my previous home and my rescuer notes that I have been guarding my food. If there are other dogs around, please feed us separately. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: house and leash manners, very well behaved off leash (once bonded.) Bonus Points!Leash skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health Notes:I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and in good health. My adoption fee is $600.00 plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. [TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis. ##2121491##

Story
Hi. I'm Creamy. Here's a bit about me: Breed: Golden Retriever mixAge: 2 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 25 kgHeight: 55 cm Updated bio: Hi there everybody - I have made my way to Canada. I am a super kind, and very playful pup! My left arm never grew to its full size when I was a baby due to a birth defect, I am always limping, but you wouldn’t know it when you see me play. I love to play with other dogs nonstop. I am extremely friendly, but I might be shy when you first meet me. It doesn’t take me long to warm up to people though. I will be on my back asking you for belly rubs in no time. I have mostly had exposure to smaller dogs and terriers, but I also get along really well with people and bigger dogs. You just need to give me a chance. I really hope to be able to come to Canada soon, because honestly, living in a shelter and limping around all the time it’s not the most ideal situation for me. I would love to be in a more comfortable environment with loving parents that will help me thrive and be the pup I want to be and have the life I deserve. I really hope that you will end up being my person! I am just a doll! I was rescued when I was only two months old. My mother had just given birth to a litter of puppies, and I was one of them! I was born without one leg. The man who called the shelter and informed them of me was able to adopt out all of the puppies, except for me, apparently because of my deformity. I know, I was very surprised as well! It doesn’t hinder me from doing anything! I’m actually extremely playful and love to play with other dogs! There is nothing that I can’t do! Well, except for growing another leg. But I don’t need to! I get along with:Dogs: yesKids: yesCats: unknown Prey drive: not observed, adopter needs to be willing to train me should these behaviors arise. Story
G'day. My name is DORIE (Dorla) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Golden Retriever/Lab mixAge: 5 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 25 kgHeight: 55 cm Dorie is very loved by her Canadian momma, but has to be rehomed due to health reasons. Here is what she has to say about her sweet girl: If you love being greeted at the door every time you come home with a smiling, tail-wagging dog with the biggest paws on the block, then please meet Dorie. This sweet, playful Golden Retriever/Lab cross loves spending time lounging around the house and having a spot to sleep in every room. She loves playing with tennis balls and durable stuffies. Dorie is an independent girl who can keep herself entertained with toys and puzzles, but would also benefit from having a playful friend around the neighbourhood to help her socialize more.  She is smart, and understands some basic commands (sit, lay down, shake a paw.) We have been working on recall and she does well on leash. Having a strong prey drive, Dorie will chase after small animals (including cats and small dogs). So household devoid of a cat or other small animals is needed. Dorie has been friendly meeting children, but has not been with them for any extended amount of time. She does well with women and has made some dog friends around the neighbourhood. There are some days where she will bark at other dogs, as well some men, but she is able to be redirected with consistent work.  Dorie would do better in a home with a yard where she could relax. Her preference is for shorter walks, and her recall is getting better, so has been having lots more off-leash time. She hasn’t wanted to try swimming yet, but has been out on a paddle board several times. Dorie loves food, treats, and jumping into the water to play. She sleeps well through the night, and sometimes even snores after a busy day! Once Dorie gets the zoomies, prepare for the cutest dog show ever. She would do well in a home that would allow her outdoor time, but also time to relax indoors. *** Hiya guys! One time, in my home country during the middle of the night, the city officials were killing the neighborhood dogs. I did some major sneaky work and ran away from the city officials into my rescuer’s father’s yard. Lucky for me, he had left the door open to take out the trash. I ran into his yard and hid in a box until I was found by my rescuer's dad. I was so lucky to end up in his yard. The stars have aligned for me to end up in Canada with you. It was fate! I am very friendly and love to play with humans, as well as other dogs. I even have a doggy best friend! His name is Mack (also posted.) I have been told that I’m super intelligent and learn commands very quickly. I am really hoping that I will end up in Canada soon and my new life will start with you! Please consider me to be a new addition to your family! I promise to fit right in! https://youtu.be/qV4pEc476Ew. Energy level: moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: noKids: unknown Prey drive: High Fears: I am a bit afraid of men. However, if they sit next to me and give me treats I will learn to trust them. Training: someLeash training: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes, but please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home. Story
URGENT! Due to a new law enacted in my country, the rescuers can't retain the refuge, so all us dogs need homes before the end of the year. Please help. Hi there. My name is Taylor. Here is a bit about me:Breed: Lab/Golden Retriever mix (Austrian Pinscher/Russo-European Laika)Age: 3 yrs (feb 14 '21)Gender: FemaleWeight: 56 lbsHeight: 22 inchesCountry of origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlights: gentle, wary, quiet, sweet, timid A quiet and gentle girl, who is just learning to come into my own, I am so ready for my own home. I didn't inherit my momma's golden locks, but I still have the sweet retriever genes within.Rescued from a forest outside a major city, I was wild with pain from a severed tail. It is unknown whether it was from an act of cruelty, a trap or a tragic accident, but the force of it left little more than a ragged stump. Out of agony and panic, I fought against being rescued, and some of my teeth were broken during the struggle. When I was found, a frightened puppy, Ella (also posted) was with me (but she was not mine), and thus we were rescued together. Come to find out we are half sisters. Same momma, different daddy. We were taken to the vet clinic, where I had surgery. Once we were stable, we were transported to our rescuers facility where we began our path to recovery.Though the trauma of everything has been particularly difficult for me, I have found solace in a soft bed, nutritious food, and the comforting presence of my bonded companion, Ella. In the company of the other playful and relaxed refuge dogs, I have been gradually regaining trust.I am not known to bark. While wary of unfamiliar humans and other dogs and will run away if pursued, you can get me in the house with gentle encouragement, once I trust you. So, still shy and prefer my buddy, Ella's company. However, I allow interaction without scurrying away from my rescuers now. If you will allow me the time to trust, I will continue to improve.I am a really sweet and passive pup. My rescuers determined to show ne that not all humans and dogs are a threat and that I am safe in their care. I flinch less now when petted, but still skulk when entering and leaving the house.I have adjusted to life without a tail. I may not have much more than a stump now, but I wiggle it with joy when happy.  I am slso used to living among humans and housemates.I am currently being leash trained. I prefer to sleep alone, with Ella sleeping nearby. It would be especially sweet, if Ella and me could be adopted together. We are listed as a bonded pair, but could potentially go to separate homes, as well.I am a fairly low maintenance dog, who doesn't require a lot of walking time. I am undemanding in my needs, so will make an easy dog for someone to incorporate into their home. I'd do best with another non-dominate type dog, so I am not pushed around.
