Story
Our Gorgeous Coco is a cool blast of fresh air! She was found as a city stray in Staten Island, NY, and brought by Animal Control Officers to NYCACC. When no owner came forward, she was transferred to our Connecticut Rescue. We believe Coco is primarily a Red Tick Coonhound. She is a large athletic girl, at 48 pounds, strong enough to overwhelm some folks. Her breed is largely a gangly Scent Hound, so, her ideal adopter would be an active single or couple, who can include Coco on hikes, runs, power walks, camping, or any kind of vigorous activity that will challenge mind and body. Coco would do well with experienced, confident dog owners, who understand the importance of ongoing discipline and obedience work, and are willing to continue her on her path to Canine Good Citizenship. She's almost there! We have had a blast with Coco. We've taken her hiking and swimming, and have polished her commands and manners. She really thrives in the outdoors, and has a delightful, impish, playful vibe. Coco is extremely affectionate and revels in any human contact. The more action and exercise that she gets, the better. She is not a dog who will be happily relegated to the backyard, and ignored. We think that Coco could join a multi-dog home if the chemistry is right, and the home has some structure. A busy family with lots of kids, and high energy dogs coming and going, is too chaotic a lifestyle for her to process. She would thrive in a calmer, disciplined environment where she can be front and center, and benefit from her adopter's laser focus. Coco has done well with some dogs and not well with others. She has an Alpha personality, and engages in vigourous play, which may be too much for some dogs. She's not the type to back down from confrontation with a high energy, ill-mannered dog, and she has not particularly liked our personal gaggle of yappy, ankle biters.  On the other hand, she has been friendly to some of our more sociable Rescue dogs. We would need to do a proper dog introduction to assess chemistry at the adoption meeting. We haven't had Coco around cats, but she would likely chase them beyond their comfort level. Coco's house manners are good, but she still has an older puppy vibe, and may need a correction or two about jumping up on Strangers. She is house trained and crate trained, although Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and at an ideal lean body weight of 48 pounds. Coco has been spayed and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.  If you are interested in Coco, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Willa and Watson (siblings) came from the Brookhaven pound. We saw them on Face Book. The Brookhaven pound was going to put these puppies down because they were so shy. They couldn’t find a rescue group to take them. We decided to help them. They are super sweet, but they are very shy. Walter is not as shy as Willa. They feel very comfortable in their environment, but when taken to the vet, they do get nervous. They do respond to love, but they need somebody that will spend time with them. Because we are so overcrowded, they have never had an opportunity to live in the house. They were heavily bonded at the foster’s house, and they loved to play together. The foster did not spend any time with them, but the children played with them some in the fenced in area. They play well with other dogs, but they have never been around cats. Since they have been at Blue Ribbon Kennels, they have been in separate kennels for the past 13 months. They both need a special home with somebody that will spend a lot of time loving them, giving them a lot of attention and being patient with them. Plese help Willa, and maybe even consider adopting both of them! Willa and Watson are in Mississippi. Rescue Riders is a very reliable pet transport and will transport Willa to her new home. This is included in the adoption fee

Story
Let me introduce Chance, one of the coolest dogs in our rescue! His foster mother has medical issues, and she wants him to find his furever home ASAP! This awesome guy was abandoned in the woods, alone in the middle of nowhere, when he was still a puppy – scared and left to die young. He is extremely sweet. Chance loves toys and playing fetch - playtime is high on his wish list. He is very friendly, never meets a stranger, and loves absolutely everyone he meets. He still has a puppy spirit and needs activity & exercise! He would be great for an active family that hikes or runs, as long as there are cuddles and belly rubs. His leash walking is progressing well. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introduced. He will be happiest as a loving family companion. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We'll transport to a destination near you every weekend, alternating between the Northeast and the Great Lakes.
