Story
Poor Penelope was found by a Good Samaritan after she was abandoned at a dump. She is a sweet dog who loves being around people. We have not heard her bark but she does occasionally sing! She is also completely clean in her kennel run and never goes the bathroom until she is outside. Penelope would be a great companion whether you like to take walks or cuddle and watch TV - she is up for both! Thank you for your interest in Penelope AB! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=18102 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Penelope AB, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.

Story
A GENEROUS DONOR HAS COVERED THIS DOG'S VET COSTS, GIVING YOU A REDUCED ADOPTION FEE! Virginia was dumped out pregnant and despite going up to several homes and people, no one tried to help. She eventually wandered up to an empty house to have her three babies and thankfully someone finally took pity and reach out to get her help. Now Virginia and two of her puppies - Violet & Vince - are still waiting for families of their own and they are all on the URGENT list as their shelter is over full and they are running out of time. This girl is going to make someone a fabulous companion! She walks very well on a leash and is learning not to pull. She is potty-trained and is active but not hyper, does not jump, nor does she guard her food or toys. Virginia LOVES to go for car rides, especially if there's a burger and a pup-cup involved. And when she is on outings, she is the perfect lady when walking around the store - she was polite, greeted everyone, picked out a chew toy and treats. She takes a treat ever-so-gently and is just an overall "Good Girl!" Her absolute favorite thing is playing with her tennis ball or squeaky ball!! No stuffy toys for this girl. She loves to be with her person but if you are busy, she is content to play by herself too. Virginia does well with kids and loves every human she meets but she does not love other dogs, and we recommend she be an only-pet home. Virginia is looking for a family to include her on their adventures and show her all the love this mama dog deserves!! This girl is an absolute LOVE and deserves the best home ever! If it is yours, click on the big, black button to inquire about Virginia. Virginia is currently in TN but the transport to your area is included in your fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road.

Kobe's friendly nature, boundless energy, and love for humans make him an exceptional companion for anyone seeking an active and affectionate pet. Kobe's unique personality, stemming from his mix of bulldog and beagle traits, sets him apart. He finds joy in toys, belly rubs, laps, and hugs, making every interaction a delightful experience. If you're someone with an active lifestyle, Kobe could be your perfect running or hiking partner, showcasing his potential as a fantastic fit for individuals or families who love outdoor activities. This charismatic pup not only loves human companionship but also enjoys playing with other dogs. However, Kobe can be a bit possessive when it comes to his food and toys, so a home where he can be the sole pet would be ideal. At approximately 3 years old and weighing around 35 lbs, Kobe is ready to bring his infectious energy and affection into a forever home. Currently residing in boarding, he eagerly awaits the opportunity to be a part of a loving family. Are you the one who can offer Kobe the active lifestyle and affection he craves? Come meet Kobe and discover the joy of having a wonderful companion by your side! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/.
