Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi, I’m Bell, a 7-year-old, 50-pound English Bulldog with a big heart and an even bigger personality! I’m a sweet girl who loves nothing more than lounging at home and playing fetch or keep-away with my favorite balls. I may be a bit older, but I’m still full of energy and love to stay active!  In fact, I've been working with a trainer and its's recommended a daily walk (outside Or on the treadmill!) for mental stimulation. I’m totally potty trained and do well with crate time, though sometimes I’ll bark if I don’t get my way. I also need daily eye drops, but I’m good about taking them. I prefer a quieter, adult-only home since busy places and small kids make me nervous. I do best as an only dog so I can get all your attention. We can Netflix and chill on the couch and I promise to be your bestest friend and loyal companion. Foster mom says I’ll keep you laughing all day long with my bulldog antics and hey, we can check out the world.  I am leash trained and like to go for short walks. Listen, I may not be the fastest or most fit, but I can keep up! At home, I’m super affectionate with the adults I trust, and I love snuggling on the couch—yep, I’m a big lap dog! I’m happy going on leash walks for potty breaks and exercise, so I don’t need a fenced yard. If you’re looking for a special Bulldog who just wants to be your best friend and play fetch, I’m your girl! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    * **Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  I know you want to meet me. I will be at Chuck & Don's, Eden Prairie, 8022 Den Rd, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 for an Adoption Event on Saturday, March 15th from 11:00-1:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.  AND...Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, March 16th from 10:30-11:30 am. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Meet Carbon, the lovable, goofy, and opinionated Bulldog who’s the perfect mix of cuddly and silly! At 45 lbs, this charming fella is an expert lounger and 85% couch potato, but don’t let that fool you—he’s also got a playful side and loves a good walk or car ride. Carbon’s expressive face and slightly tongue-out look are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, and his hilarious personality is sure to keep you entertained. Carbon is a big fan of food (who isn’t?), especially carrots, apples, and peanut butter—he’s learned quickly to appreciate tasty treats like stuffed Kongs and Himalayan yak cheese chews. He’s also very smart and eager to learn; he’s made great strides with his manners, now sitting politely for treats and meals. While he’s still working on his potty training cues, Carbon is a champ at going outside, and he happily goes into his crate when you leave the house (with a little food bribe, of course). This sweet, snuggly guy is good with kids and other dogs of all sizes, but he’d be just as content as the only pup in your home. He’s a gentle giant when it comes to playtime, especially now that he’s learned to be more gentle with his mouthiness. While he barks when he’s alarmed or excited, he’s generally a quiet and laid-back companion. He does enjoy “his spot” on the couch and isn’t shy about making it clear that it’s his place to be, even if that means sitting right on top of you! Carbon is the perfect balance of lovable, goofy, and laid-back, and his affectionate nature is sure to brighten any home. He’s ready to share his funny antics, love, and snuggles with the perfect family. Could that be you? Story
Tallulah is a 5-year-old, 36-pound English Bulldog with a heart as big as her personality. Originally purchased from a breeder as a puppy, she was sadly discarded and ended up as a stray. Luckily, she’s now safe in foster care and ready to find her forever home!True to her Bulldog nature, Tallulah is strong-willed and thrives with structure. She gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids, but she does have a habit of “bullying” her way to the front of the line when it comes to attention, and will let the other dogs know, with her body language, to move along. Because of this, she would do well as an only dog or in a multi-pet home with someone who can set firm but loving boundaries using positive reinforcement.Tallulah is a total sweetheart who adores belly rubs and has perfected the art of the 'sploot'—complete with her tongue sticking out for extra cuteness! If you're looking for a loving, goofy, and affectionate companion, Tallulah might just be your perfect match.Tallulah is an Ambassadog, which means her higher adoption fee will enable us to cover some of a bill for a dog with more medical needs.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Story
Name: Plonker Breeds: American Bully/ English Bulldog Mix Age: Adult Sex: Male Size: Large (65 lbs) Plonker is a big boy with a big head and a big heart. He isn’t the sharpest tack and really embodies the joke “big head, no thoughts” but he makes up for it in heart. Plonker is friendly to everyone, goofy, loves butt scratches, and loves to flop out snoozing with his stumpy back legs behind him like a little frog. He is housetrained (though off the bat will need a belly band since he is a leg lifter), crates well for the workday, and minds his manners in the house. He loves bones and toys, happily waddles all around for walks, and then snores like a freight train relaxing. He is good with other dogs and loves all people though the littler kids get bowled over when he plays because he has no idea he is big. He will shamelessly sit in anyone’s lap! Plonker is about 2 years old. Requirements: No special requirements Adoption Fee: $650 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 6 months of age, deworming, microchip and current preventatives Interested in adopting? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Clove – The Sweet, Sassy Bulldog! Clove is a bulldog with a personality as charming as her name! This affectionate girl is a fun mix of sweet and sassy, guaranteed to make you smile every day. She adores snuggling, playing fetch, and tug-of-war with squeaky toys – and yes, she thinks she’s a lapdog! What Clove Brings to the Table: Commands Superstar: She knows sit, lay down, down, stay (still a work in progress), kennel up, and come (when she feels like it – what a diva!). Treat Champion: She takes treats gently and loves all the praise that comes with it. Loves to Play: Whether it’s a game of tug or chasing after a toy, she’s all in! Clove’s Fun Quirks and Progress: Not a Fan of the Cold: She enjoys the great outdoors but would prefer a warm snuggle on chilly days. Loves to howl along with sirens on TV and is a fan of Nicki Minaj. House-Trained in Progress: She’s almost there and catching on fast with only a couple of accidents. Crate-Trained: Clove adjusts well to her crate with just a little initial whining (background music seems to help her relax). Still Polishing Skills: She’s working on leash manners (pulls when she’s excited), jumping up, and severe stranger danger around men and some dogs. She needs ongoing socialization and training to help her shine even brighter and very slow intros when placed in situations around men or dogs.   Medication:  Clove is on anti-anxiety meds to assist with her wariness around new or strange things. Click here , here , here , here and here to take a peek into Clove’s sweet personality. Her Ideal Family: Clove would thrive with a single woman who’s looking for a loving and loyal companion. Her best match will have no young children or other pets, though she might warm up to dog siblings with time and proper introductions. She’s curious about cats but doesn’t always know her own strength, so feline friends might need supervision. With patience, love, and continued training, Clove will become the most amazing partner in crime you could ask for. She warms up quickly to people she trusts and loves to know what her humans are up to. Once she’s by your side, she’s all in! Are you ready to make Clove a part of your life? This sweet, stubborn bulldog is sure to steal your heart!  Clove is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Scout! This adorable one-year-old Frenchie is on the lookout for his forever family! Despite being born with spina bifida, Scout doesn't let it slow him down. While he may need to wear a diaper and suspenders due to lack of control over his urine and bowls, his ability to stand up makes diapering a breeze. He is able to express his bladder and bowel himself and does not require and assistance in that realm - just changing his diaper. Frankly, not having to go outside in bad weather is a plus, and there is nothing to pickup in your backyard! Because of this, Scout cannot go 8+ hours a day without diaper changes, so he does require someone who works from home, or can stop home to help change his diapers to avoid infection and chaffing. Scout is full of personality, with plenty of opinions to share. He's a playful pup who never seems to tire out, often leaving his friends wondering how he keeps up the energy. When playtime winds down, Scout isn't one to rest for long; he'll grab a toy and entertain himself by tossing it around with gusto. Scout is eager to find a loving home where he can continue spreading joy and laughter with his playful antics. Due to his energetic ways, not all dogs appreciate his play He has doggie friends, who enjoy playing like him, but it is not preferred by all. Scout can't wait to start a basic obedience class with you to keep learning and to make up for lost socialization when he was a younger pup. Scout has not met any kids, but is ok with dog-savvy cats.  He is crate and leash trained, so does not require a fenced in yard.  Scout is looking for a special home, but we know it is out there Scout is an incredibly sweet boy who loves life and not all he needs is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on him. Sure, he may be a bit higher maintenance than others, but his heart is enormous and it’s overflowing with love that he wants to share with an amazing family. If you will welcome him into your world, he promises you that not only will he show off his excited bouncy dance, but he will make you the center of his universe!!  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.  Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there, I’m Laverne, but you can call me Vernie! I’m a confident little French bulldog who’s always ready to brighten your day. At 3 years old and 20 pounds of pure joy, I bring equal parts charm and spunk to every room. My favorite thing? Being your copilot on adventures! Whether it’s a car ride, a walk, or just hanging out with new friends, I’m your girl. Seriously, I’m a total social butterfly—I can’t resist introducing myself to every person I meet. At home, I’m a perfect balance of playful and chill. I love zoomies in the yard, plush toys, and cuddling on the couch when I get the chance. At night, I sleep peacefully in my kennel, but during the day, I want to be wherever you are. I’m potty-trained, crate-trained, and I even know commands like “sit,” “come,” “kennel,” and “go potty.” Told you I’m smart! Now, I’ll be honest, I do have some GI issues. It just means I’m a fancy gal who sticks to her prescription probiotic and special food (it’s worth it—I’m worth it!). I also take a couple of meds to manage my tummy troubles. But don’t worry—I’m super easy to care for, and I never let it slow me down. See more details below about my issue and treatment. I get along great with other dogs, especially big ones, and I’d love a fenced yard for my potty breaks and zoomie sessions. Older kids are cool too, since I get a little bouncy when I’m excited. Here’s the thing: I’m not just cute; I’m endlessly sweet, loyal, and ready to be your shadow. Bonus? I do the cutest yoga pose where I stretch out and kick my right leg in the air. Trust me, it’ll melt your heart! If you’re looking for a playful, loving best friend who’ll make you laugh and keep you company, I’m your girl. Let’s make memories together! Love, Laverne Note, Laverne was diagnosed with Histiocytic ulcerative colitis and is on Baytril for this.  She may need this med lifelong. She also has Moderate lymhoplasmacytic and histiocytic chornic and active enteritis. This is essentially IBS of the small intestine.  She is on a steroid, Budesonide, and may need this lifelong.  She takes a probiotic, Visobime, and eats a prescription diet from the vet. Because this food has some allergens, Laverne displays allergies on her paws and ears. A cytopoint injection helps with this. Down the road, it may be recommended to try a less allergen diet and see if her Colitis/IBS can handle that change.  On this regime, Laverne is flourishing, gaining back lost weight, and a happy girl! In addition to her other surgeries, Laverne did have surgery on her nares and soft palate to improve the quality of her breathing.  This is partially reflected within her adoption fee. This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello future family! My name is Winston, and I am a handsome guy with big, soulful brown eyes and the kind of eyelashes that make everyone swoon. I mean, if I had a dollar for every compliment on them, I’d be living in a mansion by now... but instead, I’m just looking for a forever home full of love! I’m a total love bug. My idea of a good time? Cuddling on the couch and lounging with my people. When I’m at home, I’m pretty mellow — I love to relax and take it easy with my humans, but I’m also ready for action if you bring out a bone or decide it’s belly rub time (my absolute favorite). I can be a bit of a stuffed toy destroyer though, so if you give me one, you’ll want to supervise me. I get carried away, and let’s be real, those squeaky things are just too fun to resist. When nobody’s looking, I may try to gobble up the remnants, but hey, I’m just a dog with big ambitions! Oh, and full disclosure — I’ve got a thing for eating poop. Yeah, I said it. But don’t worry! I’m getting better, thanks to some training and the magic of the “leave it” command. Still, it’s probably best you watch me during those poop breaks. I do require a fenced-in yard, but I also enjoy leisurely walks at the park. And while I know a few basic commands like sit, stay, and touch, I’m just waiting for the right family to help me hone my skills. One skill I don’t need help with is when I hear the word “treat”—I’m there faster than you can blink! At night, I’ll be your angel. I’m happy to quietly sleep in my bed, your bed, or even a crate (I’m flexible like that as long as I’m by you!). But I’m not a “crate dog” when you’re gone. It makes me anxious, so I prefer to have the run of the house when you're away. I basically just wait for you to return…can you blame me? Speaking of anxiety — I do have separation anxiety, so my new family should be prepared to work with me on this. My current family has been so amazing, helping me with some desensitization training, and I take some doggy Prozac, which has helped a lot! But here’s the thing: I’d prefer my people to be around most of the time. Are you a homebody? Do you work from home? Well, then we’re a match made in heaven. I’ll be the best coworker you’ve ever had, and I’ll always have your back! Trust takes me some time, dedication and patience, but once I feel safe, I’ll be your ride or die! My human(s) will need to separately spend one-on-one time with me so I can learn to trust them. And while I’m a bit protective of my home and can be vocal about new people, once the room settles down, I’m all about coexisting. Just, uh, please don’t try to pet me too soon. I’ll let you know when I’m ready. I’m also a quiet, chill guy at dog-friendly places like breweries and Bachmans. I love tagging along, but I’m more of a look, don’t touch kind of dog. I like to observe the fun, but I prefer not to be approached by strangers (unless they have a treat…I can be a brave boy, but ONLY for a treat!). I’ll put my full trust in you to be my #1 advocate. I can live with a cat (as long as they respect my space), but I LOVE dogs. In fact, I’d love to have a confident, playful dog companion at home. Playing is SO fun, and having a doggy friend makes me feel more secure when my people are away. So, what kind of home am I looking for? I need one that’s calm and consistent. A household without kids would be ideal, because I need a peaceful environment to thrive. And random, but when it comes to stairs, I’m good with a few steps, but not too many. I just want to feel secure, safe, and comfortable with my new family. If you can provide that, I’ll be your world!
