Story
Meet Honey, the 2-year-old Bulldog mix who greets every new friend like a long-lost bestie! Her foster mama did a DNA test and found out that Honey is 41% Olde English Bulldogge, 31% American Bully, and 30% Bulldog! Weighing in at about 61 pounds, this happy, outgoing, and confident girl is equal parts playful and snuggly. Whether she’s meeting people at adoption events or hanging out at home, Honey’s joyful energy and love for life are infectious. She’s even earned her Canine Good Citizen certification and is always eager to keep learning new things—her latest trick is “spin”! Honey’s foster family has been helping her work on leash manners since she’s a strong girl who can get excited on walks. They’ve also been teaching her commands like “watch me” to help her focus during outings. At home, she’s learning to sit calmly before going out the door or meeting someone new, though her “wiggly worm” excitement often sneaks through. She’s making great progress on keeping all paws on the ground during greetings, but it’s still a work in progress, so a bit of patience from her future family will go a long way. Honey absolutely adores people of all ages. She’s been wonderful with the teenager in her foster home and loves to roughhouse with her friends. She’s also done well with little kids at adoption events, but given her exuberance, some caution is advised while she’s still mastering polite greetings. With other dogs, Honey’s playful nature shines—she thrives with canine companions close to her size, as she loves a good wrestling match. At home, Honey is a low-maintenance sweetheart. She’s house-trained, doesn’t need a crate, and is perfectly content lounging on the couch while you’re away. Though she likes toys, her favorite pastime is snuggling up next to her person. Honey’s young and energetic, so a home that provides plenty of exercise through walks or playtime in the yard is essential. Regular walks will also help reinforce her leash skills and keep her thriving. If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, and lively companion who’s equal parts cuddle bug and best friend, Honey is your girl. Apply to meet her today and see just how special she is! Her minimum adoption fee is $95, plus a $15 fee for rabies registration for McLean County residents if she’s 4 months or older. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
