Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $800   Pizookie is a 3 year old English Bulldog x Micro American Bulldog mix who’s as sweet as your end of the day treat! Pizookie was rescued from the shelter with her pal after being surrendered by their former home. We aren’t sure how anyone could have left these adorable smooshy faced pups behind, but we had to save them and give them the best ever second chance! Pizookie weighs 40 pounds and is an absolutely gorgeous merle pup. Bulldog lovers won’t find a better pup than our Pizookie, we promise you that! We will be prioritizing homes with experience around flat faced and Bulldog breeds as they have unique health specifications. If you’re ready for the sweetest new dessert for your family, come on down and order our limited edition Pizookie today!       Pizookie is a super duper friendly and outgoing gal who adores her people and the world around her. From minute one, she was extremely affectionate and ready for snuggles and scratches. She’s never met a stranger she hasn’t immediately won over and plopped her head into the lap of. She’s a total people dog, but she isn’t a Velcro dog. She’s fine to occupy herself if you need her to, but is always ready for another attempt at the lap dog life. Pizookie is very food motivated and smart, so we expect she will continue amazing you for the rest of her life. Pizookie has a medium energy level, she loves playing with her toys and going on her walks but also spends a lot of her days sleeping and lounging about. With her piercing blue eyes and her gorgeous merle coat, she is just as sweet and affectionate as can be. We have no doubt that she would be a famous Instagram model in no time! Even though she isn’t “normal” lap dog size, she has no idea of that fact and she’s happy to do her best to get into your arms on the couch. She’s basically an adorable dog and a weighted blanket all wrapped up in a cute package!  Pizookie wakes up at 8 AM and goes right outside for potty and breakfast. She either sleeps in a crate with the door open or on her bed. She spends the morning following her foster people around before snoozing in anticipation for her mid-day walk. After her walk, she’s pretty mellow for the rest of the day - entertaining herself by chewing on a toy or her Kong until dinner time. She also takes plenty of well-deserved naps in between her play sessions and cuddle sessions. It’s hard being Pizookie! Once she eats, she goes out for another potty break and a playful romp. In the evening, she relaxes by the fire or clambers onto the couch to hang out with her foster people. She goes out for one last potty and then heads to bed  Pizookie currently lives with another dog but she prefers her people, so they largely ignore each other. She walks well on a leash and doesn’t pull. She is still working on her housetraining but is making quick progress. Her dream home is one where her people are ready to shower her in love and affection. She would be an amazing WFH buddy, as long as you’re excited for a snoring buddy to make your Zoom calls full of fun. Ready for snorts and cuddles? Come order Pizookie!      Pizookie is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience, especially with flat faced breeds. Kids should be over the age of 8.November 20, 2024, 7:05 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $1200   Squishmallow is a 1 year old English Bulldog ready to join your stuffed animal collection as a limited edition cutie! Squish was rescued from the shelter with her sister, Pizookie. We aren’t sure who left these two adorable girls behind, but we quickly stepped up to ensure they found the best forever homes possible. We will be prioritizing homes with Bulldog experience as this breed has unique quirks that make them the best! Squish weighs 40 pounds and is the happiest, goofiest little gal in the entire world. Seriously, look at that smooshy face and tell us you didn’t fall in love instantly! If you’re ready for a fabulous new best friend, come and pick up Squishmallow from the toy store today!       Squishmallow is a total lovebug who is always ready for a snack and a belly rub! She adores her people and it has been amazing to watch her personality emerge more and more each day. She loves being part of the pack, clambering after her foster siblings happily. Squish is always down for a snuggle or a cuddle, and totally thinks she’s a lapdog even though she’s a bit bigger than the average lap pup. She knows how to capture all the attention in the room with her adorable face with her perpetual tongue sticking out. She’s a fabulous WFH companion as long as you’re happy with white noise in the form of Bulldog snuffles and grunts. Squishmallow is very much a couch potato type of dog, she’s more likely to snooze the day away than join an energetic hike. She does love a slow walk around the block though, as long as it ends with a sweet treat! According to her foster, Squish has been a perfect guest who is a total treat to spend time with. She lives up to her name with her smooshy face and her laid back personality. We know her personality will shine as she quickly wins you over when you meet her.  Squish wakes up between 6-7 AM, but would absolutely sleep in as late as you’d like! Everyone starts their day by going outside to do their business before coming inside to scarf down their breakfast. She spends her days wandering the yard, napping on the couch, getting cuddles and scratches, and making an assortment of Bulldog noises. She loves hanging out in the yard and sniffing all the scents of autumn! She eats dinner between 4-5 PM and eagerly seeks out extra snacks that her humans might drop on the floor. In the evening, she lounges on the couch and watches some TV as she unwinds from the day. She goes out for one last potty at 9 PM and then follows her foster mom to bed where she cuddles all night long.  Squishmallow currently lives with several dogs and gets along with them all. She adores people and is happy as long as she can soak up attention and affection. Squish is working on her leash walking skills and is making progress quickly! She would benefit from a home prepared to continue her training and socialization, as she wasn’t given the building blocks in her former home. We are hoping to find a home knowledgeable of the EBD breed so she can live her best and healthiest life! Come on down to the DPS toy store and meet our special Squishmallow!      Squishmallow is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. Priority will be given to those with experience in flat-faced breeds. Kids should be over the age of 9.November 15, 2024, 5:23 pm

Story
Lola enjoys meeting new people and is generous with her affection. She is a Bulldog mix and is approximately 7 years old. She needs lifelong medication for her chronic dry eye and environmental allergies, both of which are under good control with her current regimen. She recently had to have her right eye removed but has healed well from the surgery. She is current on all vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She would love a new home where she can get the attention and affection she so enjoys. She should be placed as an only dog, as she does not get along with other dogs.

Story
Chunk is a bit of special boy, he's very dog neutrally and friendly, he gets along great with them and could live with them. However, when he does live with another dog, it makes him lose trust in humans and causes him to bite when he's afraid, though he never does this in a home without other dogs. So, a home where he can be the only dog would be best or in a home with 1 other mellow dog. Chunk has spent 12 weeks of professional training with Lee Johnson of BeSpokeK9 and is practicing being his best self and his new and improved leash skills! Chunk comes with lifetime assistance from his trainer @boooshank (IG), group classes for the rest of his life, 1:1 lessons, boarding options and priority swimming pool slots for anyone who takes a chance on this amazing guy! Chunk is a special boy and looking for his special family He loves to play, very food motivated and enjoys walks! He gets triggered by loud noises, quick movements and will bark when he wants cuddles. Chunk is a very healthy English Bulldog and doesn't even have most of their allergies or skin concerns that typically accompany the breed. Without dogs, he is absolutely perfect, cuddly, affectionate, and calm. He'll follow you around the house and try to be a lap dog whenever he can! Chunk needs a very structured home, where boundaries are enforced and kept. Chunk is being fostered in Fairfield, CA. If you would like to meet Chunk, please fill out our adoption application on our website www.cabullyrescue.org/adopt.

Story
Hi! I am Cheesecake, well...simply because i look like one. LOL. I am dog friendly but have had a hard time trusting new people. I am working on this and my confidence and am doing my best! I was saved from Merced Shelter right around Thanksgiving. I am 57lbs and still trying to loose a little weight, but with all the walking i do, i am sure i will lose a few pounds shortly! I am good with other dogs but need some time to warm up to new people, they scare me a little bit. I am working on feeling safe in the crate too, but i have been doing a lot better! I am a sweet girl, who just needs to feel safe, loved and have boundaries. I am currently being fostered in Richmond, CA. If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application on our website www.californiabullyrescue.org/adopt

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $250 Jenga's adoption fee has been partially sponsored by a generous donor! Jenga is a 3 year old French Bulldog who we rescued from the local shelter. A cold kennel is no place for such a handsome guy like Jenga! This dude is all the best parts of the Frenchie breed. Those who know and love Frenchies should look no further than Jenga. We will be prioritizing homes who have experience with this type of breed and are aware of their health concerns. Jenga has seen an eye specialist and is blind in one eye and is missing partial vision in the other. He still sees enough not to bump into things. To be honest, he’s so confident that it took us a few months to notice he couldn’t see too well, which says a lot about him! He doesn’t let a little thing like vision stop him from living his best life. The eye issue is not congential but rather a lack of care. He has damage to the corneas from an injury. Poor dude never got the help he needed to protect his eyes. It does give him a bit of a funny look, but we think it's adorable! Below is a note from Jenga’s foster.  Jenga is a very sweet dog who would love nothing more than to curl up on your lap and snuggle the day away. He sometimes gets the absolute funniest zoomies when he needs to get bursts of energy out, but he is a total couch potato. Unlike any other dog I have ever fostered, Jenga seems to know when screens are in front of him and loves to show off for attention on Zoom calls, which is a truly amazing skill for a dog who can’t see very well. When the camera calls, it calls!  He is just such a character.  Jenga wakes up around 8 AM and goes for a morning walk about half an hour later. He gets breakfast at 9 AM. When I work from home. he loves to cuddle next to me on the couch or take naps on the floor nearby. He gets another walk at around 6:30 PM and then gets his dinner. He goes to bed with me around 11:30 PM.  Jenga walks very well on the leash. He loves to sniff all the good smells out there and show off his amazing looks to his adoring public. Due to his vision issues, Jenga would do best as a solo dog in his forever home, as he startles easily when he is surprised. This distinguished gentleman is looking for his throne and we promised we’d deliver him one! Jenga is only an option for those who have prior dog experience, with priority given to those who understand the Frenchie breed. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7. November 5, 2024, 9:13 pm
