Story
Meet Harper, a cat with a tale that's straight out of a fairy tale. Once upon a time, Harper lived in a world where cats could talk and make wishes. One day, Harper wished for an endless supply of belly rubs and bed snuggles. His wish was granted, but with a twist - he was transported to our world, where only humans could provide him with the affection he craved. That's how Harper ended up at the shelter. He's sweet, cuddly, and a bit goofy, but also a little shy. He loves belly rubs and snuggling in bed. Harper's magical journey has brought him here, but he's still waiting for his biggest wish to come true - to find a forever home where he can share his love and magic. Adopt Harper, and fill your home with his magical love and warmth. ##1663263##

Story
She would be a good companion and needs a companion.. She likes to meet the people who will become ‘regulars’, but does not like to be petted by strangers. She does like her nap time and some me time. She learned to play ‘fetch’ in a day and a half. She does it to be with you, not just 'fetch'. She is so intelligent! Highly trainable for someone who truly cares for her, reasonably sure she would like to be leash trained. She is a hunter, so a home with a bird would be a mistake. I hope she will have playmates; another cat, a small older dog with a calm temperament, a kind, warm child/family or all three. She is more loving than affectionate, & she needs someone to be ‘hers’. She does not like to be alone. She would like a peaceful, active household; a calm teenage girl, stay at home woman, a playful not aggressive child (older than 8).. She knows ‘NO’; & depending how it’s said, she knows what kind of ‘NO’.. STOP!! NOW, don't do that.. -more info avail..

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! KONA and her siblings (PELE - PRISCILLA - RINGO - FELIX - LULU) were saved from the shelter. They were so scared and underaged. They were in danger so we had to find a foster quickly! KONA has been ready for her FUREVER home for a long time! KONA is a playful girl who loves to talk. When she’s hungry, she will follow you around meowing at you until you feed her wet food. Her favorite place to be is playing inside of a cardboard box. She loves a box full of toys so she can jump inside and dump all of the toys out. KONA is a DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / EGYPTIAN MAU-TABBY MIX. She is 3 years and 5 months old and is good with cats and small children. In her foster home, she is around other kittens and older cats. She has never been around dogs. She will do best with a strong cat that can handle her playing and strong will. Or she will be good by herself. KONA is currently located at a foster home in Beaumont, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT) 2. Fill Out Online Form 3. Submit Online Application 4. Someone Will Call / Text to Do Phone Interview 5. Will be notified of Approved Application 6. Home Visit (WILL BE SCHEDULED) 7. Official Meet and Greet with Kitty 8. Sign Adoption Contract 9. ZANDER and his 5 siblings were living in a large colony in Long Beach, CA. He was part of a large colony that was getting TNR help. They were living in a busy parking area under cars because management had bolted shut the area under houses they use to seek shelter. People had intentionally run over some and & poisoning others there. Since the 6 were already 5-6 months old and were unsocialized and very skittish, they were released back to the site. Their trapper called us crying the night she was releasing them because she had no other option since she already had 8 cats at home she had nowhere to put them. When she released them, all 6 were crying and confused in the middle of the street until they all came together and touched each other’s noses and cuddled up in a ball in middle of street. So that was our cue to bring them to our rescue. Our boy was adopted and lived with his human for over 2 years. To his dismay, his human died. And the back up humans, dumped them on her neighbor. So now ZANDER is back at our rescue. He is now ready for his new home. Meet ZANDER, a three-year-old Egyptian Mau from Long Beach, California, whose essence is pure joy wrapped in a stunning brown-spotted coat. ZANDER is the kind of cat who can turn any ordinary day into a playful adventure. His lively, funny personality shines through in everything he does, from the way he pounces on his favorite toys to the endearing moves he makes when he's excited. This energetic feline loves to chase after feather wands. a ZANDER isn’t just about playtime, though. He has a sweet side, especially when he’s around other cats. Having lived with a female cat before, ZANDER has shown that he enjoys the company of his fellow felines, making him a great companion for a home with other cats. He’s the kind of kitty who would love to curl up next to a furry friend after a day of play, sharing warmth and comfort in that special way only cats can. With his affectionate and social nature, ZANDER is sure to bring a lot of laughter and companionship to his new loving home. Whether he’s chasing after a sunbeam or curling up for a cozy nap, Zander’s playful spirit and charming personality are bound to win your heart. Are you ready to welcome this fun-loving cat into your life? ZANDER is a EGYPTIAN MAU / TABBY-TIGER MIX. He is about 3 years 6 months old and is good with cats. He has never been around children or dogs. Adoption is an important time in your life and we are grateful to be a part of it. We take pride in offering you a personalized adoption experience with continuing behavioral support as needed. -Mindy Gould, CEO Name: Adam Breed: Savannah Mix Age: 2 Years Old Personality: Sweetheart, a little shy Special Skills: Harness trained About Me: I’m Adam, a gentle and loving two-year-old Savannah mix who is ready to find my forever home! I’ve been through a lot, having survived a severe illness, but I’m completely cured now. I just need a little extra patience and understanding as I learn to trust again. Once we bond, I’ll melt your heart with my full hugs around your neck and my love of cuddling at night. My Ideal Home: I’m looking for a calm, quieter home with older, considerate children or adults. I thrive best in peaceful environments where I can feel safe. I also love a bit of outdoor time, but I prefer to explore from the safety of a stroller. I’m also harness trained, so we can still have some outdoor adventures together! Will you be the one to give me my second chance at a happy life?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please be aware we are a small foster based rescue in Riverside, California. Our volunteers often have other jobs/careers as well. We are not a government funded shelter and all of our donations including adoption donations are used to run the rescue and help the animals in our care. Since we are no kill, higher fees for in demand breeds help us cover critical care.  We are always in need of volunteers, donations, and fosters. Please excuse any wait times as we are often inundated with emergencies or short staffed due to the overpopulation crisis. You can learn more about us on our website or follow us here.   Steps 1-2  of the ADOPTION PROCESS must be done before we do OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS or take deposits.  To keep animals healthy,  we limit  foster based meet & greets  to people fully qualified to adopt them.   No animals can be held without a $75 deposit. Deposits cannot be refunded if you change your mind, they are to hold a cat and can result in other adopters being told they cannot adopt. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.  Application:  Log into our website and complete the adoption application at link below: Applications :  Forms (rescuegroups.org) 2. Virtual Home Check: Once your application is approved, check back if you haven't been scheduled for a virtual home check within 48 hours.  A virtual home check to ensure safety of your residence for your kitty (not perfect cleanliness). You will be told during the visit if you pass.  3. Official meet & greet with your kitty at an adoption event, foster care, or adoption center depending on location of the kitty.   We only have a few  volunteers,  so we apologize at times we fall behind due to high demand of some cats.  5. Sign adoption contract and, if appropriate, foster to adopt clause. 6. Pay adoption fee via zelle using act2rescue@gmail.com (not our phone number) or using cash. We can accept cards at adoption events but the terminal charges fees that are pretty high so it's not the best option.  7. Take your kitty home. Be sure to isolate kitty while they adjust to your home. We may check in from time to time to be sure you do not need any additional support because we love hearing how our kitties are doing. As volunteer staff, happy stories are literally our paycheck.  8. Check out our website https://act2rescue.org for resources, blogs and info on how to best take care of your new kitty. Our professional behavior coach is available via text to assist you with transition as well. We also have a Facebook group to interact with our behavior coach and other kitten care experts, as well as our A2R family like you! ****Please note, we do not have dedicated staff for phone lines so please text instead of calling. If the cat/kitten is listed, they are available. However, they could have pending applications or meet and greets scheduled. Filling out an application and approval does not obligate you to adopt the kitty. If they are not a fit...we have plenty of other kitties for adoption. This kitty has received at least two FVCRP vaccines, rabies if over 4 months, Revolution for fleas/ticks/heartworms/stomach parasites/ear mites, de-wormer, sterilization*, and microchip (you must register for it to work but it's free).  All kitties are given a general wellness check by a veterinarian prior to sterilization.  Deposits: The only way we can hold a kitty is with a non-refundable (if you decide not to adopt within 2 weeks not if we void the adoption) deposit of $75. We reserve the right to void the adoption up until the point the contract is signed. If we cancel the adoption (for kitty health or other issues) we will refund your deposit. If you wait longer than 2 weeks, we cannot hold the kitty due to space constraints. Your deposit could be used on another kitty. If you decide not to adopt at all, any deposit will go to the care of animals rescued with us and may be written off as a donation.   Foster to Adopt: Kittens must be 2 lbs or 8 weeks and fixed to be adopted. This will be noted in the approximate available date. If a kitty is unable to be fixed in a timely manner, they may foster to adopt. This would be all adoption paperwork and donations would be exchanged and the kitten would go home. Adoption paperwork will have a clause that it is not final until animal is sterilized.  Once the sterilization appointment arrives you must bring them in to be sterilized or the animal will have to be returned to the rescue. You may also have them sterilized on your own and show proof to the rescue. Once sterilized the adoption will be complete. We normally do not do these in this manner but due to extreme situations they may arise. Final health checks are done during sterilization. Any unknown health issues would also allow you to choose a different cat.   Failure to comply with sterilization will result in returning the animal to us without refund of donations. Breeds:  We cannot guarantee breed but do our best to identify possible breeds based on their appearancxe and personality. If you DNA test your furry friend, let us know the results. It is fun to see what the kitty actually is and how close our guess is. Please know not all DNA companies test for all breeds and the science is still catching up so it may adjust later to have breeds we saw. We like to know so we can improve our analysis too.   We cannot guarantee health but go to great lengths to have healthy kitties. Kitties do not live in a cattery but in private fosters for this reason.  Snap Testing: We do not test for FELV/FIV in healthy animals as it is often incorrect in animals under 6 months and can be a false positive. False negatives also give a false sense of security. These tests are best done if an animal is unhealthy to determine disease.  https://www.uwsheltermedicine.com/library/resources/why-are-some-shelters-no-longer-testing-all-cats-for-felv-and-fiv November 5, 2024, 1:16 am

These tests are best done if an animal is unhealthy to determine disease.  https://www.uwsheltermedicine.com/library/resources/why-are-some-shelters-no-longer-testing-all-cats-for-felv-and-fiv December 27, 2024, 5:36 pm
