Story
Kumi is a beautiful Westie/Poodle mix, about 9 years old and weighs about 16 lbs. Her previous owners dumped her at a high kill shelter with major medical issues. The shelter took care of a mass removal that she had, along with a hernia. She still needs correction of her cherry eye and dental work which we are going to take care of for her. She is doing very well at her Foster home, she loves to cuddle and go on walks, follows her Foster Mom everywhere and likes her belly rubbed. She absolutely LOVES car rides, gets along with other dogs but prefers to be with her humans. Kumi is up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in this amazing girl, please go to our website: www.amrdog.org and complete our adoption application. LOCAL AREA ADOPTION ONLY

Story
Baxter is a confident little gentlemen who is a joy to have around. He is happiest when cuddling with his human. Couch snuggles are the best. He is fully housebroken, walks great on a leash and sleeps soundly in his crate. Baxter has little tolerance for bigger dogs, so it's best he is an only dog or a dog with smaller dogs in the household. He would benefit with training. He is sweet natured and very lovable. He is between 2-3 years old and weighs 18 pounds. He loves, loves, loves having his own backyard. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Please direct all questions to adopt@crdogrescue.com. All our dogs can be met with an approved application. Thank you for looking at a rescue dog for your next family member.

Story
This little cutie pie is Forest! He is an 8 month old, Westie with maybe a tad of Maltese or Terrier. Forest came to us with his mom and two sisters when they were being given away for free out of a car on the side of the road. Thankfully, a kind woman got them to safety and reached out to see if we could take them in and we did. All of the family has been adopted and now Forest is looking for his forever family! We want him in a home with another "young" sweet and playful pup. A home with a safe and secure yard is a must as he loves to run around and play! Please note that he is a dog that will require proper and professional grooming every 6 weeks. Owners that are not gone long hours during the day would be ideal. Forest will come to you very shy and unsure, but give him a few days or so and he with patience and lots of love he will open up and blossom! He is one special little guy and we know his forever home is out there! Forest is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater LA areas as everything done is in person...meet/greet, home check, and trial period. Please contact us at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020

Story
This little beauty is Camila! She came into our foundation when her owner who had her since she was a puppy reached out to us to surrender her because she felt she didn't have the time to dedicate to her. It's ok because Camila deserves better and we know that perfect home is out there for her! She is a 4 yr old, Silky Yorkie that is such a sweet girl with lots of fun energy! We are looking for a home with no other dogs as she can be a bit bossy along with owners that are not gone long hours during the day. Camila LOVES people, but does take a bit to warm up to men. She is a dog that yearns for love and most likely did not get that in her former home. She seems to get the hang of potty training quickly in a new environment. Camila deserves a home that will dote and love on her like she deserves and we know that home is out there for her! Please contact us at: gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020 Camila is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater LA areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required.

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET ELODIE…a sweetheart of a 20 lb, 3 yr old, gray and white, Silky/Skye Terrier X…who came to us from the Inland Valley Humane Society. Not our typical pull, Elodie needed out and we came to her rescue! At first arrival, not uncommon, Elodie was confused and rather shy. But, it didn’t take her long to come to us and give gentle little kisses to let us know she was calming down. We learned very quickly that Elodie is a decorator and if she doesn’t like how things are placed, she will move them — most likely, she doesn’t like being bored! So, we decided she wanted company and placed another dog with her and she was happier. While she still would prefer a human’s company, she settled down. She loves to go for long walks and is good on the leash. It takes her a little time to find just the right spot! With outside access, her potty training seems good, but we never guarantee. Elodie is still rather reserved, as she just arrived a little bit ago, but she is warming up more and more every day. She is a good eater, a little fearful of new people on the street but her social skills kick in and she is just a wonderful, loving, affectionate girl. The ideal home for her would be one with or without another dog — but not one where she is left alone many hours. She doesn’t really engage that much, and we know that nobody is home 24/7, but a home where the family works from home or someone is there would be the best for Elodie. She is good with kids, dogs, not sure about cats but LOVES HER HUMANS!!! Does Elodie sound like a dog who could sing a “melody” in your home? She’s waiting!!! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting! Don't forget to check out our Events Calendar for more information on upcoming events! ***Courtesy post - contact Rachel 818-378-8995*** Romy is a 3 yo Carin terrier mix who weighs 20 pounds. Sadly he was abandoned when a rescue closed its doors and left their dogs behind. He's currently in a foster home but is eager to find his forever friend. While he's shy at first meeting, he will melt your heart and be your best snuggle buddy. He's your most loyal companion! Romy is house-trained, super smart, playful and LOVES his adventures outside - especially going on long walks with his person. He is GREAT with dogs (and cats) and would love a doggy friend to play with. Romy is fixed, UTD on shots and ready for love. Please no small children, they can be scary to Romy. This is a courtesy post for a fellow rescuer. Please text 818-378-8995 for more info. Story
Meet Grandma Dollie Mae Meet Grandma Dollie Mae: Your New Best Friend! Introducing Grandma Dollie Mae, our sweet 10-year-old senior pup who is nothing short of a miracle. Just a short while ago, Dollie found herself in a dire situation at a high-kill animal shelter in Los Angeles, facing the unthinkable. Thankfully, our wonderful rescue team at Concerned Citizens stepped in just in time to change her fate. With the help of a caring foster family, Dollie was whisked off to the vet to receive the care she deserves. Dollie loves her afternoon nap with her favorite pillow and blanket. She eats and sleeps and then eats again. We recommend a house hold with children over 12 years old who possess very good animal etiquette. As Dolly needs not to be startled. This spunky little lady embodies the spirit of happiness and resilience! Despite facing a few medical issues, such as arthritis, Dollie remains a joyful companion. Her vet has advised against spaying due to her age, as undergoing anesthesia could pose risks. But don't let that worry you—this feisty grandma dog has plenty of love and life to share! Dollie Mae is the perfect addition to any low-key home, bringing warmth, joy, and a sprinkle of fun wherever she goes. She is microchipped and up to date on vaccinations, ensuring she’s ready for her forever family. If you're interested in lighting up your life with this delightful senior angel, Dollie Mae is currently located in Lakewood, CA, and would love to meet you! For inquiries or to set up a meet-and-greet, please reach out to us at info@concernedcitizensanimalrescue.org. Let’s give Grandma Dollie Mae the loving home she truly deserves!

Story
Hi, my name is Roxy! I don’t know how, but somehow I went from living with my human companion to being in a really scary place called the pound. Lucky for me; I was rescued by a wonderful rescue organization, and now I am being taken care of by a super foster family. They can tell you that I love to cuddle and chill, I’m very good with kids, I’m house-trained, and I love my walks and behave perfectly. I’m okay with being around other dogs, but I’m happy to just be around my human friends. I would be so happy to find my forever home, so I could give you all the love I have in me! If you are interested in meeting Roxy, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and fax it back to us at (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Roxy is 11 years old and weighs 8 lbs.] (2003/2406)

Story
Leo is a wonderful little guy. Very loving, sweet, playful and cute. But unfortunately my work schedule is changing and will not allow me to have a dog. I would need to travel for work often and stay away for days and I don't really have anyone else to care for him when i am away. He is afraid of other dogs after he was ganged up by a group of dogs and also was attacked by a coyote at my backyard in OC. Thank God I was able to save him but now he does not trust dogs with rare exceptions. He likes cats but he has so much energy, wants to play all the time and that will most likely annoy your cats. We love him very much but it will be of his best interest to find him a new family with a regular work routine. This breed really likes steady routines.

Adopting a Australian Terrier

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Australian Terrier - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

You can adopt an Australian Terrier at a much lower cost than buying one from a breeder. The cost to adopt an Australian Terrier is typically $50 to $300, which covers the expenses of caring for your new buddy before adoption. The adoption fee usually includes an initial medical exam, parasite prevention and treatment, spay/neuter, microchipping, and vaccines.

In contrast, buying Australian Terriers from breeders can be prohibitively expensive. Depending on their breeding, they can cost $1,000 to $1,800.

The easiest way to adopt an Australian Terrier is through a rescue that specializes in Australian Terriers or a small-breed rescue. A great place to start is with a breed search on Adopt a Pet. The search will show you all the available Australian Terriers in your area.

Australian Terrier fun facts

Fun Facts:

The Australian Terrier was first shown in 1862 with the rather cumbersome name "Rough-Coated Terrier with Blackish-Blue Sheen Body, Tan Face and Legs."

The Australian Terrier was the first Australian breed to be shown not only in Australia, but elsewhere in the world.

Australian Terriers are capable of jumping straight up off the ground, a hunting muscle-memory wired into them from living on a landscape ridden with snakes.
