Story
Duke has completed a long term training program and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. Duke was not treated well in the past and was pretty feral when we got him, but has come a long way in learning that humans can be nice. Duke is extremely cautious of new situations, people, & other dogs. It is my belief based on working with him for the past 2 years that Duke was completely feral & much less accepting of human interaction that originally believed. Once Duke gives you his trust, he is affectionate, playful, & fun to interact with. If pushed too hard, too fast, Duke will shut down temporarily & re-emerge when he is ready. Although Duke has no known bite history it is believed that if placed in an extremely stressful situation where he felt trapped, he would go into self-preservation defense mode, so he needs a very specific home. This sweet boy is extremely cautious with new people. Slow introductions & trust building helps him to willingly approach people he has been introduced to. Duke has exhibited same interest and disinterest to both men and women. No children under the age of 14yrs is recommended. He does not do well with younger high energy children. Duke has been dog selective. He has done best with female dogs but has accepted & played with male dogs that were established in the home when he arrived. Slow introductions strongly recommended. He has shown no prey drive including barn cats & chickens near but not easily accessible Duke has shown extremely limited interest in balls, stuffed toys, and chew toys but is an extremely athletic dog who can climb 6ft fencing. Smooth wood privacy fencing is required. Duke is 4 years old, neutered, current on immuizations and on preventatives. If you think this boy is a good fit for you and that you want to give him the life he deserves, please fill out the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Hello, world! I am Duke and as you can see by my photo, I am a very dapper young 42 lb pupper. I currently live in North Texas and am around five years old; out of those five, I have been living with a professional trainer for four of those! So as you can imagine, I am a very good boy. Plus, I am UTD on all vaccines, preventatives, am neutered, chipped and am as healthy as can be. While I live on a fabulous property with excellent care, I long for my own home and own people. Right now, many dogs come and go from the trainers and while I love playing with most other doggies, especially female dogs, I would prefer a quiet space all to my own with my own people and doggie siblings. Although I really do not like the doodle dog that lives here at all, most dogs are cool! I LOVE my crate and will need a safe, clean crate where I can find respite and peace. You see, I do easily get scared of new people and experiences so I will need more time than other dogs to adjust. But let me tell you, if you are worthy of my love, you will be honored with being granted permission to pet my belly and I will even allow you to hug me. I don't even mind it if you touch my paws, nails, teeth, ears or if you groom me, either. While I like pretty much all people, don’t expect me to just give my trust to you on day one. I take my time. My past is part fame and part mystery. My trainer thinks I have some PTSD because she says she has to trick me by distracting me to put on my collar. I was too young to remember what horrors happened to me in my puppyhood but if you think you are going to just slip on a collar willy nilly, I may have to give you a warning nip. I do not like it. I also use a wire-coated leash because leashes are from Satan and should be destroyed; I think many dogs would agree with me there. But my trainer is happy to show you how to distract me with cheese to get it on. You have to be the sort of person who can follow directions. I also do not resource guard food but I will bark at barriers. Have you seen those videos of two dogs between fences making mean, scary faces but when the people open the gate, they are super polite and chill? Yeah, they got that idea from me–I mean, I am a shepherd, hello. I mentioned fame because when I was first found I made the news. Evidently I was running for days up and down the tarmac at the airport. But don’t worry, because I was smart enough to not get hit and I didn’t even delay a single flight! Despite being somewhat famous, I am also handsome. I love it when my people play “chase me.” I love to be chased. I also like it when my step dad wrestles with me. I am very gentle with my mouth. I am not really a ball or toy kinda fella so hey, save your money! I love to sunbathe and I am pretty lazy. If you are looking for a “hiking buddy” or a “brewery dog” I am not your Duke. I love to lay around and be near my people. In fact, I am pretty street smart and I allow strangers to calmly say hello. I like most people of all varieties but will do best in a home where I am not alone, and where there are no small children. I don't care about cats or chickens. If you are a squirrel though, game on! Basically, I am young but I like to think I am in an early retirement. I want to lounge mostly with some fun zoomie time occasionally. I am hoping someone with a female dog, no dog, or the right male dog will be interested in me just being around. I require a meet and greet if you have a dog. I dont require a lot of exercise but I like to be acknowledged so you should be home most of the day. I want to live inside, with a nice crate, be walked occasionally on my special leash, and if you have land, that's awesome too. If you have water that's even more wonderful as I love to swim and splash but that is not a deal breaker. I need someone who is patient. I have lived with a trainer for FOUR years and I am who I am at this point. You must be patient when you meet me and you must follow the trainer’s rules for leash, crate, and collar. So, is that someone you? Can YOU follow rules? If so, we may have a beautiful future together. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application. I deserve my own home and humans to pamper me. Here is the link to the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new furever family.

Story
Meet Daisy Dukes: The Independent Farm Helper Introducing Daisy Dukes, also known as Daisy Collerville. Rescued from a hoarding case, Daisy is a nine-year-old, 60-pound shepherd mix who thrives on having her own space. Although she's feral and prefers to keep her distance from people, she would be a perfect fit for a farm where she can put her excellent perimeter-walking skills to use. Daisy is a natural at keeping predators off your property and would be a valuable asset in a farm setting. She gets along well with chickens and cats, and she's generally good with other dogs. While she's fine with people, she prefers to stay away and enjoy her independence. Given her background and feral nature, Daisy currently lives in boarding due to her fear of people. She would do great on a fenced-in farm where she can roam freely and enjoy the barn life without the risk of wandering off. Daisy is looking for a special sponsor to help cover her boarding costs and ensure she continues to live comfortably. If you have a farm and are looking for a hardworking helper who's good with animals and prefers her own space, Daisy Dukes is your girl. If you're interested in sponsoring Daisy and helping her live a safe and happy life, please consider supporting her today. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Berne, means 'bear-like' and this boy is so cute and has the waddle of a bear! As cute as he was we noticed something else was going on with this boy besides being a tail-less wonder. His back end seemed smooshed. We got him checked out, after x-rays and evaluation he has a compressed spine. This is common in some breeds. We don't know his breed but it will be something he has forever. He is not in pain and still acts like a normal puppy. As he gets a little bigger, we will see if there are any remedies or treatments that might help him but we do suspect he will live a happy life and would be an awesome addition to any family. He may need to be in household with older kids so he doesn't get knocked around. He is potty trained. He is doing great with crate and leash training. He loves tug of war, bully sticks and pestering his older foster siblings. He has spurts of energy a couple times a day, doesn't last long and otherwise very chill! Vet suspects he will get to 30 pounds. This sweet boy was found as a stray in a park. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at http://dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Our dog was born on June 3, 2023, and we bought him from a pet market when he was 3 months old. He is now about 17 months old. We have given him all the necessary vaccinations and implanted a microchip. We are hoping to find a loving new home for him, preferably with a family that has enough time and energy to continue fostering his good behavior. He is very happy, friendly, and obedient, making him suitable for families who enjoy having a well-behaved, gentle dog. He freely roams around the house, and when he needs to go to the bathroom, he walks to the backyard door and waits for us to open it. He plays outside for a bit after going to the bathroom, then comes back inside to continue playing. At night, he goes back to his crate to sleep, maintaining a routine. Overall, he is a lively, friendly, and well-mannered dog, and we hope he will continue to bring joy and happiness to his new home.
