Story
This is Tank! He's a 4-year-old male Aussie born 2/22/20 that we've had since he was 8 weeks old. Tank is friendly, loving, playful, loyal and last but certainly not least- high energy! He went through a 6 week puppy training camp when he was 6 months old and knows several basic commands. Tank has high natural herding drive and will chase anything that moves (squirrels are his favorite but he also loves tennis balls and frisbees). He's been around cattle and would be a natural if put to work on a farm or ranch. Tank is house trained, crate trained and leash trained and really does great staying either inside or outside. Unfortunately, he's not getting the attention and exercise he needs everyday to keep him the happiest he can be. Tank deserves a big yard or pasture where he can run, chase, explore, or work. We'll be happy to let Tank go on a trial basis and if things don't work out, we can surely take him back.

Story
Please contact Tonya Griffith (TMSGriffith@aol.com) for more information about this pet.Posted on 12/2/17, and pictures were updated on 7/27/21.  Dahlia was transferred to me on 8/31/17 from the Rebel Ranch Rescue after the founder, Amy Allen, was murdered on 8/21/17.  Dahlia was one of 4 dogs still there that other rescue groups chose not to take.  She was scared and tried to chew the leash the first attempt to get her out of her dog pen, so a second leash was used as a muzzle.  She was also hiding in a hole under her dog house.  She had a male dog in the dog pen with her named Artie, who seemed to be attached to her. After being in a dog pen for about one week.  I decided to start letting Dahlia and Artie out to run, and they would chase each other around and then run back into the dog pen when done.  Dahlia also LOVES to get in water.  After another week of this, I decided to leave the gate open all the time.  They eventually moved to another section of our property.  Dahlia started climbing our 4 foot perimeter fence and running around the wooded area, but Artie has stayed on our property and made friends with the other dogs here, so he is not as attached to Dahlia as I first thought.  Dahlia got to where she came up to me to get pet, so it was easy to catch her when she was outside our property.  I put her in a small secure kennel at first with some can food, so she knew that going in that kennel meant can food when I needed to catch her again.  I now have her in a secure 6 foot tall dog pen, and she loves attention and getting pet.  She first found a way out through the chain link on top by getting on top of a dog house, but the chain link is now secure to the railing.  She needs a lot of space to run with a tall secure fence that can't be climbed over or dug under, and a source of water to get into.  It would be nice if she could get a job to do, since she is very trainable, and it might help keep her at a home. Dahlia was already spayed when transferred, and heartworm negative on 9/1/17. D.O.B.:     ? August 2013Weight:     47.6 - 9/1/17; 70.2 - 12/4/20 $25 adoption fee.November 6, 2024, 12:13 am

Be sure to read my FULL BIO all the way down to my vetting and how to apply. Not all sites will show the full bio, so if needed please go to www.rockersrescue.org and click on adoptable pets to be sure you are reading all details. The animals have multiple pictures and usually a video to view. You must apply and have an approved application before we can schedule a private meet. We are located around Shreveport, Louisiana and generally meet at PetSmart Shreveport, or Hollywood Feed Shreveport, or for dogs we can also meet at the adopters home.    Luna Rae-  Female. ~3 yrs old now. Right about 50lbs. (Special case, fear reactive with new people. Needs dog smart owner. Also, will smother you with love once she knows you.)  Luna Rae's fur is medium with thick fur along back to curled tail. Has Eskimo dog in her dna which explains her tail shape, thick fur, and medium size.  This is a SWEET girl that loves her humans big. Like in your face with love and kisses. She is a great home protector as she is weary of new people. She loves to snuggle by you or on your lap. She enjoys sleeping in bed near her humans. Be prepared for kisses.  If you are on the couch she will often lay next to you and sometimes even climb into your lap to kiss you too. If you are standing she will often lightly stand up to hug you and give kisses.  Luna is in a foster home with multiple other animals.  It would be easiest if she could find a home with no other pets where she can be the center of attention like she wants to be. If you do have another pet it could be considered though and we'd have to see how they do. She does try to play with the other dogs.   She loves to play with toys and has some good energy. Fenced yard needed for when outside. Must be secure. Her mind can get in "go" mode so plenty of exercise or stimulation such as toys and chew sticks are great. Sometimes she does chase light reflections on the ceiling...just being honest here, haha! I know her forever home won't mind it or can work with her to de-sensitize her to it. She is very treat motivated.  History:    Luna came to us a 5 month old puppy. Her owner was leaving for the military. We ran into them outside a kill shelter they were trying to surrender her to, and we agreed to take her in. She was adopted and returned 1.5yrs later right at 2 yrs old.    Training : Kennel trained. House trained. Sleeps in kennel or bed (prefers in bed). Upon her return, she did training with Cody at Red Rover to help her get over some fears she had. She was very scared of men when she came back to us. She would bark in fear. She did excellent with training and upon her return to us she was in my husbands lap within minutes. She is told to "sit" if ever nervous meeting someone new. We are very cautious with this as she is still getting over her fears. We tell them to give her space and time and we help her approach and sniff them. Again, we are careful. I have seen her take straight away to some new people and love them immediately, and then I've seen her stay untrusting with others. It just depends. Her new owner will receive 3 free training sessions with Cody if they would like, to go over her commands. She has known phrases such as "sit, lay, here, place, kennel". She is very good at sit and we also call kennel her "room." It is important her new owner understand she can be scared of new people and those situations should be handled appropriately or avoided. Continued training and working with her should help this more and more.   I have been praying Luna will find her home where she will thrive and be so happy giving all of her love. If you think you may be this caring home for Luna Rae, we look forward to your application. She is a sweet girl that really just needs her perfect spot to be loved.   Vetting: Utd on all vaccines. Heartworm negative. Proheart 6 for heartworm prevention. Bravecto (3 months) for flea/tick prevention. All vaccinations. Negative fecal. Spayed. Microchipped with lifetime registry the rescue has already paid for.  Luna did have a light sedation for her last vet visit for her yearly, as she was very scared. She may need a light sedation for vet visits or to have a clinic that will go slow and win her trust.  Available for foster to adopt program as well. We do take our babies back if it doesn't work out. The foster to adopt program allows you to do a trial run to see if the animal is a great match for your home.  About Applying to Adopt: Should you meet and decide to adopt, there is an $50 adoption donation for approved applications. Our rescue spends a lot more than this fee on each life, but it is a way to help give back some to go towards the next life we help.  We are a 501c3 non profit that is 100% volunteer run. We function solely on donations from kind people. If you wish to donate more or continue following/supporting us over time, we would appreciate your continued love to help our organization save lives.  Adoption Process Summary: You apply. We will email or call if we have any questions. Upon app approval, we would schedule a day we all meet at PetSmart Shreveport or Hollywood Feed Shreveport or at your home. At that meet we would all make sure that you feel the pet is a good match for your home. If so, we run the adoption. You fill out our contract, pay your donation fee, and receive your folder with their medical records. It helps to bring a leash to this appointment because your pet will go home with you that day if we all feel it is a great match. Woohoo!  We take your adoption picture and you head off with your new furry friend! We can often provide adoption coupons too.   TO APPLY: complete the DOG APP at  https://www.rockersrescue.org/info/adoption/    Please include as much information about yourself as possible. Some people applying like to send an email with pictures of their home/pets/ or family. If you wish to do that, the email is rockersrescue@gmail.com  Thank you for your interest in adoption! - Rockers Team  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 11, 2024, 7:11 pm

Story
Hi there! I'm Leia Ray, a one-year-old Australian Shepherd mix weighing around 50 to 55 pounds. I found myself at Pet Savers through no fault of my own, just because my previous family was going through tough times. But don't worry, I'm a resilient pup! I get along great with other dogs, kids, and even cats. Plus, I'm already house trained and know some cool tricks like sit, scoot, and being gentle when taking treats. Playing in the water is one of my favorite pastimes, and I had a blast running in the rain during my photoshoot. I'm an all-around wonderful dog, ready to bring joy to any family. If you're interested in meeting me, please apply today!November 4, 2024, 10:52 am
