Story
Casper is an approximately 10 y/o double Merle Australian Sheppard. Double Merles are the product of two Merle gene dogs. They are typically born deaf and/or blind. He is neither. His eye sight has declined as he has aged and bumps into things when he’s transitioning from bright environments into darker ones. He is truly the sweetest guy and loves people. If he could be strapped to you all day he would be happy! He is ok with other dogs but does take time to warm up. He loves people! He’s ok with kids but I suggest a home with older kids (ages 7+) just because he can’t see well and is jumpy. He’s never aggressive but moves quickly to get up when startled, so he may knock down smaller kids. Casper is a really good boy and deserves a home where he can be loved on and taken on daily walks. He is simply not getting the attention he deserves with us any longer due to newer, high need members of our family and paying for basic veterinary care for him has become difficult.

This is my last week and I don’t want him to go to a surrender. I have started a new job which I will be traveling over 75% of the yr. He needs the love and I won’t be around at all to give him the attention he needs and deserves. Hawk is amazing with kids loves his belly rubs. He is house/potty trained. He knows a few commands like sit, and go to bed, but his favorite word is treat.

Story
Roku is one in a million. He has never been destructive even as a puppy, hes smart, eager to please and wants to obey. Roku is a mini-Aussie 18lbs and was 4yrs old this September. He is always so happy, you just cant help but smile at him being happy. Because Roku is so smart and responsive I believe he would thrive with an owner who has some training knowledge or is at least eager to try to teach commands and tricks. Roku would LOVE it!! Roku has always lived with a cat as his best buddy and so I imagine he would be unhappy being left home all alone. Im looking for a loving home for Roku where his owner works from home or there is at least one other pet to keep him company. Roku is such a wonderful dog, he deserves to be adored so I’m open to having a trial period. If you take him home and find he’s not your dream dog I ask that you let me know. I will take him back and continue the search for his perfect fit.

Story
Hiya! My name is Callie and I am a 4-year-old Aussie/Lab mix. I've got lots going for me and can't wait to find a family I can adore fur-ever!! My foster momma is doing a great job loving me and I'll make.a fabulous addition to my new family!! I cam to the shelter after I'd been found laying in the street after getting struck by a car. Fortunately, I wasn't injured too severely and after a couple weeks to recoup, I've been good as new! My foster momma says I am laid back, happy and friendly. I love air conditioning, puppies, and treats. I am house and crate trained to boot! I am a little selective with my female adult doggie friends but so far, I haven't met a puppy or male dog I haven't liked. Oh... maybe I should tell you one last thing about me. The reason I probably got hit by a car is that I didn't know it was coming. My eyesight works great but my hearing doesn't I am deaf and since I didn't hear the car coming from behind me, I wasn't able to get out of the way in time. But that sure doesn't stop me from loving life! Contact the shelter and they'll put you in touch with my foster mom and she'll tell you how awesome I am!!

Story
Dahlia is a loving, loyal, and very goofy girl. She is always down to play with her favorite toys, a racquet ball or tennis ball, squeaky stuffed animals or a cardboard box, she just loves to play with you. She also loves to run so a yard is a must. At night after a long walk, she loves to cuddle on the couch and sleep until it’s time for bed. Dahlia was adopted July 2022 and was a little over a year old, so i think her birthday is about June 2021. She is anxious around other dogs so would need to be the only one in the house, but I think with time and training, it’s fixable. She was attacked so she is skeptical of unfamiliar dogs. She has never been around a cat so i’m not sure how she would react around them. As for children, smaller children make her nervous since they’re so close to her face and she can get a little over excited and jumpy so it’s best to have older kids in a house. Dahlia now knows sit, down, stay(sometimes), still learning “come” but she loves learning. If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt.  Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Dahlia is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.October 14, 2024, 10:13 pm

Story
Babe was found abandoned in 2018/2019 and presumed to be around 1 year old at that time. She appears to be a Border Collie, but it's possible there's other breeds mixed in her. She's very friendly despite barking at any loud noises from the neighbors or knocks on the door. Babe seemed to be good with other dogs when we first got her, but now we aren't so sure since she's barked and growled at other dogs while outside a few times. She most likely has separation anxiety and tends to whine and bark for a while after being put in her kennel when we leave the house. She is known to eat any food left unattended, especially cat food. Babe is very affectionate and is almost always right next to someone asking for pets and cuddles if they aren't doing anything.
