Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ ** Adoption Bio – Alex Meet Alex, an 18-month-old, 35-lb Australian Shepherd mix who is as sweet as she is social. Alex is an active, happy girl who loves people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is even friendly with cats. She enjoys being part of the family and would do best in a home that wants an affectionate, fun-loving companion. Alex is crate trained and knows how to use a dog door, making her an easy addition to a home. She’s smart, loving, and eager to be included in everyday life. Alex has a medical condition called Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI). This means her pancreas doesn’t produce enough digestive enzymes on its own. The good news is that EPI is very manageable. Alex simply needs 1 teaspoon of a prescription digestive enzyme powder mixed into her food at each meal. This allows her body to absorb nutrients properly so she can stay healthy and thrive. When managed, EPI does not limit her quality of life, and Alex does great on her routine. You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Her adoption fee is $150. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccinations, Bravecto®, Drontal® Plus, Tri-Heart® Plus Chewable Tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Our group focuses on assisting open admission shelters in South Texas where over 32,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year. Our puppies and dogs are completely vetted and live in foster homes. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and tested for heartworm disease. All adoptions include one month of flea and heartworm preventative and a leash and collar.
