Story
Meet Kody! A thoughtful eight-year-old Australian Shepherd currently in Haltom City, TX, whose tricolor coat and soulful eyes reflect the loyal heart of a pup ready for purpose and connection. Kody is the kind of companion who listens with his whole being and feels deeply, he’s more than just a pretty face with a herder’s instincts; he’s a steady, sensitive soul who longs to bond with his person. While he might not herd sheep, he’s always herding love, sticking close to the one he trusts most. And once you're his person? You're really his! Expect head nudges for butt scratches, quiet companionship, and the joy of being followed around like you're the most interesting thing in the world, because to Kody, you are. Raised in an environment that didn’t quite match his needs, Kody has come a long way. He’s conquered his fear of everyday noises (ice makers are no longer public enemy #1!) and while he still seeks a quiet space during thunderstorms or fireworks, he no longer panics. He’s never had an accident indoors, uses a dog door with ease, and hasn’t touched a trash can, but yes, he may sneak off with a pair of laundry-day undies if left unsupervised. A little mischief wrapped in a well-mannered package! Kody is dog-friendly, with a special connection to a Boxer/Pitbull mix he’s spent time with, and he’s shown calm curiosity around a baby. He has also been around a Dachshund mix, who comically took on the bossy role! Kody took it all in stride, never reacting with aggression. He doesn’t crave toys but will happily destroy a squeaky one in five minutes flat! He knows basic commands like sit, paw, and lay down, and thrives on routine and gentle connection. Car rides longer than a mile or two make him queasy, so he's happiest staying local. This clever boy needs a life filled with structure, activity, and a "job", be it hiking buddy, daily walking partner, or ranch hand in training. He’s known to be a bit of an escape artist, so a secure yard would be highly recommended, along with patient guidance to continue building confidence through positive reinforcement. Could your lifestyle offer Kody the purpose and partnership he's been waiting for? If so, email adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet this remarkable pup ready to start his next chapter with you!

IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER HOME!   Oakley and Indy are beautiful Aussie mixes who have grown up together and make a well-synced pair. Oakley is more of an Aussie-Border Collie mix and Indy looks like an Aussie and a Collie We are considering them a “bonded pair”because they haven’t experienced life without each other. Indy is the male - he is goofball who always wants to play. He’s a perfect energy level ranging from 4-7 depending on what’s going on. If you want to play Indy will be there! He can get up and on the go at your discretion and enjoys walks, being off-leash, hiking and all outdoor adventures. Oakley is the female; she is a very loving, affectionate girl. She LOVES to cuddle and even more, belly rubs! Her overall energy is about a 4-5. Oakley can get the zoomies but she prefers to chill most of the day. Oakley likes to keep Indy in check; she’s a typical female personality in the female-male relationship. Oakley is a cautious girl; she growls a little at Indy if he’s getting too close or bothering her. When she’s getting attention and Indy “snuggle-bombs” the moment she’s very vocal about it! When it comes to humans Indy is more outgoing. But like his sister he will hunker down next to you to snuggle. Indy loves to play with all other dogs whereas Oakley is more independent. She decides for herself whether or not to play. They both get along with other dogs in general. The reason Oakley and Indy need a new home is because their beloved owner has developed severe allergies to dogs. She is heartbroken having to rehome them but she’s been on vaccine regimens, has tried several prescribed medications and has even had sinus surgery. Nothing is working. We are looking for a home with a yard where Oakley and Indy can continue to be the indoor-outdoor spirited and loyal dogs they’ve always been. Meet Ethel! Ethel was found wandering the streets with her friend Lucille (check out Lucille’s post from yesterday). She’s estimated to be around six months old and already has some impressive puppy manners — she’s crate trained and housebroken. Ethel appears to be a husky mix and will likely stay under 50 pounds when fully grown. This sweet girl loves playing with her dog pals, but her favorite thing of all is snuggling with her humans. She’s a pretty chill puppy for her age, smart, and just an all-around lovely companion. Think Ethel might be the one for you? Submit an application at www.codysfriendsrescue.org! You can meet her at both of our meet & greet events this weekend, and if you apply now, you can already be approved before you come. https://bit.ly/codys_adoption_application. ##2607323##

Zen got his nickname because he’s generally very chilled-out, relaxed and just wanting to hang out with his humans. He’s definitely a “Velcro-Dog” who will follow his humans wherever they go, wanting to be part of the action. However, as easily as Zen can be cool, calm and collected, he can also Pep Up and be ready for outdoor fun or playing with another dog or two! Zen is very sweet and snuggly. He will want to be close to you if you’ll let him cuddle on the sofa or bed, but he really likes to sleep on the floor closest to the door He’s taking that position as though he’s guarding his flock Zen knows a few basic commands but he will welcome the chance to learn more, especially if there are treats involved! He’s very food-motivated and will perform for both treats and lots of praise. Zen is good on leash-walks; he really doesn’t pull and instead looks to his human to lead the way. He’s not confrontational with other dogs and would really enjoy a supervised dog park or a canine companion to hang with at home. Zen is very quiet most of the time, however when he wants to communicate you’ll hear him talk to you very excitedly. He doesn’t like to be left behind but if he whines it is only for a very short time. Zen is crate-trained and housebroken. When we rescued him he had only known life in a crate. His owners were Seniors and for whatever reason they kept their dogs in crates indoors much of the time. We welcomed the chance to transition Zen from constant-crate time to life on the outside He has really loved spending time with all people and other dog pals. Zen has a very moderate energy level of 5-6 out of 10 most of the time. He will be as active as you want him to be but is also content with leisurely walks and play time. Zen would be fine as an only-dog as long as his human is not leaving him all day every day. We would love a home where someone works out of the house, has a backyard to explore and either another submissive male or female similar-sized companion. Zen needs a human or humans who have patience introducing him to the whole, wide world. He’s progressed beautifully since we got him and is ready for the right Aussie-Experienced forever home. JOLLY JINGLE JAMMIN’ MAN has arrived at DASH with perfect timing to find a home For the holidays and forever! He’s very well behaved for approximately one year-old puppy dog. He’s listed as an Australian Shepherd mix and he does have three colors, but he also has a curly coat and tail much like a flat coat or golden retriever. BUT HE IS MINI! Jingle isn’t expected much bigger than he is, which is 25 pounds. Jingle gets along great with all other dogs; He’s been playing nonstop with his best friend Comet Who came to us from the same local shelter (and who’s been adopted) . we got terrific photos of them meeting for the first time and absolutely no problem from there playing off leash hanging out together in the puppy pen sleeping next to each other on the big dog bed and no accidents overnight! Well, no accidents at all really. Jingle definitely Has demonstrated being crate, trained, and housebroken, although we wouldn’t leave them out there alone in the house because he is still a young dog and might find something interesting to chew. That said he definitely knows what tennis balls and tug toys are because he’s not chewing anything he shouldn’t and he’s managing to find all of the toys in the yard in the house to try and share with everybody! Not a barker not a whiner; Jingle is really A sweet, small dog who’s cool like a medium to large dog and who’s friendly to everyone with a very good disposition! While we all appreciate Holiday adoptions that brings so much to the holiday season, We are looking for these dogs to get into forever homes and hope to get applications to that effect! Jingle could be terrific in a lot of homes; First choice is always where there’s another dog, similar age and energy level to play with and for him it doesn’t matter if it’s a male or a female he gets along with everybody! We look for breed experienced applicants, People who are familiar with herding breeds That have the desire to continue working with them for more training and outdoor activities! Jingle could be a new best friend for a single active person or a couple; We love empty nests, who are still young and healthy enough to have an active puppy! And we do look for new homes or someone is at home at least part of the day because really why I get a puppy or a young dog if you’re not going to be there? We have no problem, finding homes like this, and hopefully yours can be the one for jingle if you fill out our application! Story
His name is Tofu, 4 years old. Birthday is Nov 29th. 2021. Crate trained, potty trained, doesnot destroy anything in the house beside his toy and not allowed on the furniture. 99% of time he is great and friendly to everyone but 1% of time he would bite with no reason. He is super smart, high energy and a fun dog. However since we moved from 2 years ago he built up some aggression issue towards both me and my husband. Currently his score is bite my husband 3 times and tried to bite me 3 times. It is mostly scratches and nothing serious but it was still bites. We have went through 2 trainings tried to fix his problem, some is fixed but the random aggression is a no solve. At this point we think it is space and people related and unfortunately we donnot know how to deal with him anymore. We are hoping change environment will improve his behavior, we are looking for people who can/know how to work with dog that might bite, has basic knowledge of training and strict on rules.

Story
Meet Jasper! A soulful three-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie/Rottweiler mix currently in Colorado Springs, CO, whose calm, loving heart is wrapped in a stunning 70-pound merle coat. With the gentle spirit of a wise old friend and the quiet loyalty of a true companion, Jasper is the kind of dog who will melt into your side on a cozy evening and follow you room to room just to be close. Jasper thrives in peaceful surroundings and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. He does well around children and enjoys their company, but he would do best with calm or older kids who understand boundaries and know how to treat him gently. Loud or high-energy play can make him uneasy, so a respectful home environment will help him feel safe and content. He’s a mellow guy who doesn’t need much to be happy: a soft spot to relax, the comforting presence of his caregiver, and maybe a treat puzzle or two to keep his brain engaged. Food-motivated and clever, Jasper knows a delightful list of commands like sit, stay, paw, spin, and even “middle”, a trick that’s as cute as it sounds! He’s fully house-trained, crate-trained, and perfectly content when left alone, making him a great match for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule. While Jasper doesn’t require intense exercise, he does enjoy slow, sniffy walks where he can take in the world at his own pace. His favorite pastime? Being in the same room as you, soaking up your presence like sunshine! After being involved in two traumatic incidents with unfamiliar dogs, one when he was a puppy and another more recently, Jasper has developed a strong reactivity to dogs he doesn't know. He may bark or lunge when he sees them, especially near fences or in close proximity, and he continues to work through that with training and patient support. That said, he’s done well with familiar dogs in controlled settings, showing that he can feel safe with the right structure and trust. He’s happiest in a home with a fenced-in yard and a caregiver who values companionship, consistency, and quiet. Loud noises can startle him, but with reassurance, he settles easily. Jasper isn’t just a dog, he’s a constant companion, a quiet presence, and a gentle soul waiting for someone to see the beauty in his sensitive heart. If you’re seeking a loyal, low-key friend who will return your care with quiet affection and soulful eyes, Jasper may just be the one waiting to share your next chapter! Story
🦁 Leo lovable Leo is a 6-year-old Great Pyrenees with border Collie mix. He has great energy. He's ready to go play as soon as you wake up. Loved his squeaky burger and playing ball! He's a big furry baby 💝 Anxiety gets the better of him and becomes aggressive with other dogs and in social situations that are unfamiliar to him. Currenty lives in an apartment with two other dogs and a bird which he has learned to accept. He would do great to live in a house with a backyard. Has learned to use the doggie door. Loves to be outside exploring. He is super loving and playful. Tries to communicate he needs to go potty but does have potty accidents when he gets nervous. Currently we have adjusted living situation that includes him going to the balcony set-up to do his potty business because he gets so nervous he doesn't make it outside. Apartment living is not for him, used to live in a house and he has not adjusted well to his current situation. Leo deserves to be happy in a loving home🥰
