Meet Sweetie Sweetie is a 10‑week‑old, double merle Australian Shepherd who came to us with her sister after being surrendered by a commercial breeder in Lancaster County. Weighing about 10 lbs, Sweetie lives up to her name — she is sweet, social, and friendly, and loves gentle attention and interaction. She was surrendered due to concerns that she might be blind and/or deaf. Since coming into rescue, Sweetie has been evaluated by a veterinarian, and we’re happy to share that she responds to sounds normally. While her left eye is slightly smaller, she has clear lenses with no visible corneal defects, and she confidently navigates her environment without bumping into objects. She explores her space well and behaves like a curious, happy puppy. Sweetie enjoys being around people and other dogs, and would do best in a home with another social, dog‑friendly dog to help her continue building confidence and learning the world. As with all puppies, she’ll benefit from continued structure, training, and positive socialization. Sweetie is looking for a patient, loving home that will give her the chance she deserves to grow into the wonderful dog she’s meant to be. She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped She would need to meet any resident dogs. We will not adopt siblings together. Breed: Mini Australian Shepherd/Spaniel Mix Estimated DOB: 02/01/2024 Sex: Male (neutered) Weight: 15 lbs Currently up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations Things To Know about Simba: - Rescued from Mississippi- Would do best in a home with children 5 and older who can take his cues and give him time when he's feeling nervous- Returned to TLC through no fault of his own and thriving in foster care- Super loving, curious, and affectionate boy who thinks "personal space" is just a suggestion- Will jump on your lap, crawl up your shoulders, and sit as close to your face as possible - he just wants to be near you!- Also happy to settle in on his own and explore his surroundings- Takes a short time to warm up to new people - may hide behind his person at first, but melts with treats and affection- Has found a love for stuffed toys - obsesses over one at a time, carries it around, and plays fetch (but will eventually pull out all the stuffing, so supervision recommended!)- Uses his paws like a little monkey to grab your hand when he wants pets- Needs some confidence building on the leash - prefers walking in your shadow rather than leading- A bit nervous about stairs but adapts quickly to new things (like the Roomba!)- Happily goes into his crate when the door is open and keeps it clean- Working on crate training, especially settling at night when he knows you're home - he just wants to be with his people!- Housebroken- Learns quickly and just needs patience and consistency from his adopters to continue building confidence- Dog friendly and follows other dogs around - would enjoy a playful dog companion with similar energy, but would also be happy as an only dog- Has not been assessed with cats yet- Looking for a loving and committed forever home to provide him with the care and love he deserves Learn more and apply to adopt at TLCrescuePA.org/adopt Interested in fostering?
