Story
Style is a 4 year old mini Australian shepherd mixes who was saved from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster County. She was given up because she was no longer profitable as a breeder mama. The puppy mill used her until they couldn't anymore and then reached out to us to take her off their hands. It's a story as old as time when it comes to puppy mills, but we will always be there to help our beloved mill mamas.

Story
MERCURY Breed: Australian Shepherd Gender: Male Approximate DOB: 3/11/2019 Size: Medium Weight (Potential): 40 (40) Color: White and blue merle Health: IBS, General anxiety and separation anxiety, crystals in bladder, on prescription food for GI issues and daily medications to manage anxiety. Shedding: Moderate Grooming Needs: Moderate Spayed/Neutered: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Unknown Good with Children: No Appropriate for city living: No A secure, physical fence is required. Adopters must live within 30 miles of King of Prussia, PA. Mercury is as sweet as he is handsome and at a young age he had to overcome quite a bit. He was born in a Pennsylvania puppy mill and rescued at 17 weeks of age. He was frightened and had no idea how to live in a home. Over time with a lot of veterinary care, we have found a diet that agrees with his GI system and have worked with our trainer and veterinary behaviorist to manage and treat his severe anxiety. He is a work in progress but has improved with the help of medication. H will likely need medication and prescription food for the rest of his life and will need someone to monitor the crystals in his bladder so he does not develop a blockage which can usually only be fixed with surgery if things get too severe. Mercury loves to play with toys and monitor the yard for "intruders" like birds and squirrels. He needs a very secure, solid 6-foot fence to contain him (he is a climber, jumper and digger) as he needs a yard to burn off his energy but gets a bit overwhelmed on leash walks (this is a work in progress, too). He will flash a huge smile when he greets you and will pretend that he is a tiny lap dog as soon as you sit down. He likes to watch TV but also is really good at catching a ball. Mercury needs a very loving and patient adopter who has an adult-only home and is willing to manage his medical and behavioral issues all while helping him build his confidence. He isn't a dog for the faint of heart, but he will make yours skip a beat as soon as he gives you a hug. *All dogs will go through a transition period after finding a new home and may need a “refresher course” in house-breaking. Story
KENNEL ID #01658&#226&#128&#139 Higgins and his brother, Harper, are five months old. These puppies were born and raised on a farm in Tennessee. Their mother is a mutt that appears to have some Border Collie and Pointer in her lineage, while their father is a fluffy Australian Shepherd mix. Both parents are very friendly and never leave the property. The owner found homes for three of the puppies but was left with seven. About a month ago, the pups began to get into mischief, which led to a serious dispute with a neighbor. The neighbor reacted aggressively, kicking the puppies and throwing things at them, threatening to shoot them if they entered his property again. Although the owner tried to keep the puppies confined, they are clever and managed to escape. One day, the owner heard gunshots and saw the neighbor trying to shoot the puppies. The neighbor insisted that this was his last warning. The owner quickly gathered the pups and contacted our rescue partner, Paula from A Voice for Pets. All seven puppies were rescued that day. Higgins and Harper will be arriving in Pennsylvania on November 26 and are currently in a loving foster home awaiting transport. Another rescue organization took in the other five puppies. Initially, Higgins and Harper were terrified of people, but after a week, they began to warm up and now adore their foster family. They are currently working on leash training and learning to come when called. These intelligent and sweet puppies will be neutered before transport, making them ready for their new homes just in time for Thanksgiving. They certainly have a lot to be thankful for! Adoption Donation $500 includes neuter Thank you for your interest in rescue.  If you would like to be considered for  adoption please submit an application to adopt.  If you have any questions regarding the adoption process please  email:    dianespets1486@gmail.com  or call 610-970-7500 APPLICATIONS TO ADOPT : DOG   SMALL ANIMALS   BIRD REPTILE   FERRET November 12, 2024, 12:49 pm
