Story
Roger was born about June 13, 2024 and will likely weigh in the 65# range when full grown. The story goes that two sisters decided to pick out a puppy and went to see the litter and the conditions were so bad that they each took 3 puppies! As you can imagine this became a bit too much for a single mom with a few children and she tearfully surrendered the teenage puppies to Joyful so we could get them vet care and find them forever homes - apart. Siblings should not grow up together and each of these fur kids need separate homes. They were said to be Aussie/St. B. mixes....well, maybe??? Roger is on the timid side, and somewhat relaxed for his age. He hasn't a clue how to walk on a leash and so he lays down! We'll be working on this since it's not too bad taking him for a 'carry' right now, but he still has some growing to do! He is terrific with other dogs and cats alike. Roger LOVES water and is a swimmer! There was some drooling on their way in the car coming here and one of the siblings did vomit, they have not been in the car much so this should get better with experience. He may submissive urinate when feeling intimidated so if interested you may want to google this to understand that this behavior will diminish with his humans greeting him and ignoring the behavior. This is easiest done on a surface easy to wipe up. Roger did live remotely and would stay around the house with his humans without a leash and that is why he doesn't know what to do on leash and he has not been on one until a teenager. Roger has too much interest in chickens or other fowl to live with any. He is house trained but with so many changes please be ready for some work ahead. Whew! This is a lot and hopefully will help with anyone making a decision to apply for this guy! Update from the foster mom: He was in the crate while we were away at work so that would be anywhere around ten hours. However, I know that he would escape rather quickly because the UPS guy leaves treats for our dogs, and the one morning he left an extra for Roger (the delivery was around 10am so Joe must’ve seen him barking at him that early in the day). Roger responds best to new people when they approach him gently. He had been doing a lot better with working on his timid personality. Roger loves hanging out with the cats, you just have to remind him at times that they are a lot smaller than him! He warms up to other dogs very quickly as well with proper introductions! For the most part, Roger is a lazy puppy who would prefer nothing more than to curl up next to you. He still gets sick on car rides, but is good at laying down quietly the entire trip. He does do better when he is off leash when outside for potty and playing. However, when it comes to walking he was doing well with actually walking along side me on a leash. He is also very good with going outside to use the bathroom. Roger does need some redirection at times when it comes to what he is allowed to chew. Even though most of the time he just prefers snuggling up with you! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $__550.00__. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability.
