Story
ADOPTION PENDING…..Poor Oakley has had a whole lot of bad luck in his life. He was found as a stray, but not before being hit by a car. He ended up with a fractured femur. He was picked up by Animal control and sat in a Cell for a while before being put on the euthanasia list. We couldn’t stand to see this handsome, young guy lose his life without ever knowing how wonderful life and even humans could be, so we tagged him and brought him to Ohio to have surgery on his leg. Sadly, the first orthopedic surgeon we saw Said the break was so severe, added with the amount of time that had passed since the accident, we would need to amputate. We decided to seek a second opinion and this time the doctor believed he could fix it. So we went forward with the surgery. Oakley is doing great and would love to have a family with older children to love and play with If you would like to meet this gorgeous guy, please submit an application on our website, canaananimalsanctuary.org.

Story
In Washington Courthouse Ohio - Meet Miss Jovie, aka your new best friend! We don’t know too much about her past aside from being dumped in southern Ohio to fend for herself before landing herself at a local shelter to then being rescued by ASF. How someone could dump this one-in-a-million dog is beyond me. But she hasn’t let her past affect her one bit! This sweet angel is estimated to be between 12 and 18 months old. She’s a 50 pound lap dog of true unconditional love. She looks and acts just like a big teddy bear. We call her the Golden Retriever of Aussies because of her laid back, super social personality. She has the softest fur and the fluffiest tail. She truly is a very special, one of a kind girl who deserves nothing but the best. Anyone that has met her has instantly fallen in love, stealing your heart instantly. Jovie gets along wonderfully with other dogs, dog-savvy cats, children and all people! She demands all the pets from whoever she meets. She loves going on car rides and the minute she sees her leash her excitement soars! An all-around happy go-lucky gal! Jovie loves giving kisses, getting belly rubs and being held like a baby and all you have to do is look at her and she’s instantly wagging her tail. Jovie is okay on the leash, she does tend to get distracted by everything around her so she will need someone who can dedicate the time to work on those leash skills. She’s getting better each time, but having another dog sibling to help her learn those skills would be best. She also likes to, very gently, jump up on you (she just wants to give you all the hugs and face kisses she can). We have been working on the no jump but she just can’t help herself - she’s got to show you how much she loves you and the only way to do that is to be right up in your face! Jovie will also pet you, she takes her paw and will pull your hand to her to get the attention and pets she is requesting - I mean hey, at least she knows what she wants! But she is very gentle with everything she does and never means any harm in her jumps and pets. She’s a big baby and the sweetest one at that! Jovie would be happy to go on walks or just lay on the couch with you. I’d say she’s a medium energy girl, when she does get too excited she can calm down very quickly with a look or a tone. And did I mention how well she listens and how smart she is? Jovie picks up on things very quickly and is the best listener. This girl is very expressive and if she has done something that she knows she isn’t allowed to do, the look she gives you will break your heart. We do think that having another doggie sibling for a playmate would be best for Jovie as she’s still a puppy and just wants to play. Jovie is more on the submissive side, I don’t believe she has an aggressive bone in her body! (Her 10 pound foster sister will put Jovie in line if she starts acting up.) She also doesn’t like being alone so someone who works from home or, like I said, a dog companion is best. A fenced in yard would also be ideal because she loves sprinting around the yard, especially in the snow! She is potty trained and crate trained. She likes to chew on her bones but doesn’t have too much of an interest in toys. She’s not destructive but wants whatever her foster brother and sister have and once they take their eye off their toy Jovie swoops in and takes it for herself. Jovie is spayed, UTD on all vaccines and on monthly flea/tick & heartworm preventatives. She is being fostered in Washington Court House, Ohio. If she sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Meet Livvy! Livvy is such a cute, sweet perfect balance of fun and cuddles. She loves playing with other dogs and loves being by your side. Livvy was found abandoned when she was just a tiny puppy and she is now learning, growing and thriving! Livvy is crate trained, potty trained and is doing well with basic commands. She is 5 1/2 months old and about 20 lbs! Don’t let her size fool you, she plays with her 80 lb. fosters siblings and keeps up just fine! She has been around dogs and cats and does well with both, although she is somewhat scared of our three-year-old cat. She is great with adults and children and is so excited to meet everyone! We believe her to be a mix of Pit, American Bulldog, American Eskimo, Toy poodle, Maltese and a few other breeds! (DNA Test said so)! Though she is on the smaller side, she is healthy and full of energy! She loves to run with the other dogs and follow what they do. A perfect day for Livvy is lots of playtime outside in the yard playing with her doggy siblings, and then snuggling up to rest. She loves the kiddie pool and will just go swimming when she is hot! She also loves to sunbathe and gets super excited for her walks! Though she is crate trained during nap time, she sleeps in bed with her foster parents and she absolutely loves bedtime! She will get up and snuggle under the covers! She is potty trained and uses the bell to let us know she needs to go potty and will also ring the bell when she wants to go outside and play. Livvy is super smart and is already learning so much! We are working on sit and stay, and she knows where we keep the treats and will sit and wait for one. Livvy loves chewing on bones and squeaky, crinkly toys. She gets so excited to play and will keep you laughing! This sweet girl would do best in a home with children or another dog. She loves the interaction and lights up when the kids come home from school. She also gets extremely excited to have another dog to run around with so we definitely want her to have at least one dog in the home. If you think Livvy would be a perfect fit for your family, fill out our adoption application here: https://www.coopersafeplace.org/application-page Livvy’s adoption fee is $450.

Story
Meet Hannah! Hannah needs a patient foster to help her acclimate to indoor living. Hannah raised a couple litters of puppies as a stray. We trapped Hannah and also took in one older pup and three young puppies (Hannah is the presumed mother of all four).Despite living as a stray and not having much interaction with humans, Hannah has done surprisingly well acclimating. She is comfortable in a crate and doesnt mind other dogs or cats. She comes when called and lets both adults and children approach and pet her now.Due to Hannahs background, we will require the foster to have a securely fenced yard. Hannahs biggest struggle is with leash training. She has chewed through two leashes so far. She does go to the door when she wants to potty (so we assume at one point she did live indoors) but startles at the sight of a leash.Hannah has the potential to be a terrific dog! She just needs a little help with leash-walking and some time to decompress.Fostering or foster-to-adopt are both options and we can provide a crate, baby gates, harnesses, and leashes to help accommodate Hannah in your home. Her adoption fee, should you choose to adopt, is $250. That includes her future spay as well as heartworm testing, preventatives, and vaccinations.Apply at ricopetrecovery.org if you are interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt Miss Hannah.

They have been raised with kids, other dogs, lots of snuggling and even occasionally accompanied their fosters to work.
