Story
Kasey is what we would consider petite.  She is likely an Australian Shepherd mix---and we are uncertain what the exact mix is.  Kasey is 21lbs and most likely will not get any bigger.  She walks ok on leash, loves attention, is mildly playful and enjoys some toys.  She will need basic obedience training and likely housetrained.  She does have accidents in her kennel area when we are not here to allow her out.  She reacts fine to other dogs but will need to meet any new potential housemate prior to adoption being approved. We do not know how she is with cats or children (she met a cat briefly at the vet when we were there and was curious but not forceful). If you have interest please stop in to meet her and apply during our regular business hours.   Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Gilead, Oh. 419-946-1747November 8, 2024, 12:39 pm

Story
Meet Hannah! Hannah needs a patient foster to help her acclimate to indoor living. Hannah raised a couple litters of puppies as a stray. We trapped Hannah and also took in one older pup and three young puppies (Hannah is the presumed mother of all four).Despite living as a stray and not having much interaction with humans, Hannah has done surprisingly well acclimating. She is comfortable in a crate and doesnt mind other dogs or cats. She comes when called and lets both adults and children approach and pet her now.Due to Hannahs background, we will require the foster to have a securely fenced yard. Hannahs biggest struggle is with leash training. She has chewed through two leashes so far. She does go to the door when she wants to potty (so we assume at one point she did live indoors) but startles at the sight of a leash.Hannah has the potential to be a terrific dog! She just needs a little help with leash-walking and some time to decompress.Fostering or foster-to-adopt are both options and we can provide a crate, baby gates, harnesses, and leashes to help accommodate Hannah in your home. Her adoption fee, should you choose to adopt, is $250. That includes her future spay as well as heartworm testing, preventatives, and vaccinations.Apply at ricopetrecovery.org if you are interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt Miss Hannah.

Story
Today is Kobes day to find his forever home. Kobe is a very gentle mixed breed. Possibly Australian Shep/Husky mix. He is a little over a year old and only 45 pounds. Kobe is a perfect dog, but just a tad bit shy. He is good with kids, other dogs, cats and every one he has come in contact with. He if a very loving dog that thrives on being part of a family. He would also be a great companion for a dog needing a calm friend. Kobe gets a little nervous when there is a lot of commotion, so a quieter environment may be best. Kobe has beautiful eyes that youll fall in with the minute you meet him. You can apply to meet Kobe at ricopetrecovery.org.Adoption fee is $250 and he is fully vetted.

Meet Izzy! Izzy was originally found as a stray. Her owner knew she was at the pound but never came for her. Izzy recently returned to us from a trial adoption. The adopter was letting her run loose and she was picked up as a stray for the second time in her young life. Izzy is only a year old! She is very smart and full of energy. She would love to find an active family. Izzy would do best in a home without cats, but we would love to do meet and greets with kids and other dogs!

Story
Ravi is 2, white with black spots. He loves his horse jolly ball. He is very terrier like, in that he wants to play, but often retrieves but keeps it at the last second. He is a super happy boy and loves to be scritched and bounces when he runs to play. He is a ditz though and will run into things...he will eat plastic. He is a chewer and even black kongs get chewed up, though slowly. He also knows most basic commands, when he is aying attention lol. Ravi has no known allergies, though he hasn't had chicken since he was little. He also can have heartguard and nexgard. Tall and willowy. Mild separation anxiety. Whines. Boofs when surprised by people. Has never raised a hackle... only boofs to say "hey where'd you come from" or "don't make my mom upset." (Mom has anxiety in spades and it alarms her when people surprise, and what not, her.)
