Story
Bucky is a 4 year old Australian Shepherd mix. He is a little joyous ball of energy weighing around 30lbs. He goes very few places without a ball in his mouth, is incredibly athletic, and loves attention from everyone he meets. He is cat neutral, gets along great with all dogs (though dogs that want to reciprocate play will be necessary), crates wonderfully, and is potty trained with a consistent routine! Bucky came from a hoarding case in KY where someone passing themselves off as a rescue had dogs chained outside in deplorable conditions with no shelter, and eventually started dumping dogs to cover their tracks. A long time rescuer saved 60 dogs from the situation, and 2 of them made their way to us up north to search for their forever families with us! Bucky is searching for a home with children over the age of 10 and a fully fenced yard due to his energy level. He does well with dogs of all sizes, but does want to play with them all, so dogs under 20lbs and of toy stature, older dogs, or very dog-shy dogs would not be a good fit. Bucky is accepting applications and is currently available for meet and greets with approved adopters! If you’re interested in adopting him or getting pre-approved for our other dogs, please fill out the adoption application at www.RosebudRescue.com/adopt

Story
Keller is a 12 week old Australian Shepherd saved from a puppy mill who is deaf and visually impaired as the result of double merle breeding. Despite that, he has a great spark for life and is incredibly smart and ready to start his next adventure! We estimate that his adult weight will be 30-40lbs as we were told he is a mini Aussie. Keller is very dog friendly, cohabitating with cats, and loves every person he’s met. He is progressing with leash walking and currently sleeps with his brother in an open crate inside of a play pen. They sleep through the night without accidents 99% of the time and have never pooped in the pen - potty training should be a breeze! Keller will more than likely need to be trained with touch cues as he navigates his surroundings well but has a hard time focusing on moving objects and may not be able to differentiate signs from one another. PLEASE NOTE, if you do not have prior experience with deaf dogs, it will be a requirement that you take classes with a trainer specializing in this type of training. We have one local trainer in the Buffalo area who has availability for in person classes, and another trainer who is available for virtual training sessions as well. It will be very important that his adopter sets him up for success and learns how to properly communicate with him. You will need to provide proof of enrolling him in training before the 3 week foster to adopt period is over and the adoption is finalized. Keller will need booster vaccines and will be neutered by our vet in Hamburg, NY so we are only accepting local applicants who can bring him to these appointments at this time. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting this sweet pup, please submit an application at www.rosebudrescue.com/adopt or email us if you already have one on file! As a reminder, we DO NOT adopt outside of the United States.

Story
Blue was born around July 22, 2020 and weighs about 55 pounds.  Blue was found by a local dog control officer and when no one came looking for him we were glad to help.  Blue arrived with extreme hair loss and secondary bacterial infections from flea dermatitis. Blue's skin is healing nicely but will take months to look beautiful again.  Blue's toenails were so overgrown that they twisted in on themselves like pretzels.  Even though Blue must have been in significant pain he was wonderful and so sweet for his initial evaluation and nail trim.  Blue has been fine with the other dogs here and rode nicely in the car.  Blue walks ok on a leash but could use a few lessons regarding pulling. We cannot imagine Blue would have issues living with children but maybe older kids just to be on the safe side.  Blue is ready to live his best life with humans who adore him and will take care of his every need from here on out.   He is not a noisy dog we love.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $350.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Look at this sweet face! Meet Goldie, she is an Australian Shepherd who is approximately 4-5 months old. Goldie came to us as an unclaimed stray. She is a bit shy but does warm up quickly. Goldie is a typical puppy-friendly, inquisitive and energetic. Goldie’s new owner needs to have the time, energy and patience to train a puppy. They also should be aware that Australian Shepherds are very active dogs. Goldie will need regular exercise to keep her happy. Goldie would enjoy another dog to play with and a big yard to run in. If you are interested in this beauty, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours. Wednesday 6-8p and Saturday 12-3pm
