Snuggles was my mom's dog. She passed suddenly 2yrs ago and I took Snuggles in. I've recently moved, have a full time job, and a baby rapidly on the way. I can't afford the added pet rent for her, don't have the time or energy she needs. She's very sweet and I want a good home for her. She prefers women as it was just her and my mom her whole life til 2 yrs ago. She isn't aggressive to men, just shy. She only let me or one of my kids open the door for her to go out at the old place; never my partner 😂. She would occasionally come up to him for pets when SHE decided. She's scared of rain/thunder; doesn't bark a lot unless another dog in the home barks a lot. LOVES car rides. LOVES cool weather, she actually smiles and runs off lol! She does need some more training, i.e. she will bolt out an open door if you aren't mindful, will steal unattended food off low tables....out of a kid's hands 😆. Does fine home alone uncrated during a full work day w no accidents. SHEDS 🙃

Hello everyone, my name is Mad Max and I have just arrived here at the Polk County Humane Society. I am an Australian Shepard mix and am tricolor, so this means I am a beautiful 2 year old dog. I love to play, run, have fun and I like to relax as well. I will be a faithful, loyal companion and friend to whoever adopts me. I am still young and have so much more life still left in me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! I am unfortunately having to rehome my 2 year old dog due to not fault of his own. His name is Oli and he’s a total sweetheart. He is potty trained, neutered, knows commands, and has always been a very good boy. He is a beagle australian shepard mix. He had a rough first 8 weeks as a puppy. He was part of an accident litter of puppies and they were left outside with no human interaction before I adopted him. He is the sweetest dog Ive ever met and he loves love. He is just a little anxious around new people and animals. I’m a student and had to start a new job. I don’t have anyone who can help take care of him and I myself don’t have the time anymore. Poky is ready for his very own forever home he's only a few months old and already doing really well with potty training. He's allowed to free roam with our Dogs when we aren't home, he uses pee pads while we are at work and uses the doggie door when we are home. We would love a fur sibling to tire him out. He's very food motivated and could easily be trained by someone who knows what they're doing (not us) and he would prefer to sleep with you as he is not a fan of the crate. I'm especially attached to this little guy since we are the ones who found him he's gonna be a big boy and he will make any family really happy. My humans keep me up-to-date on all my flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. I love cozy snuggles, car rides, and treats, and I’m happiest curled up on the bed or couch with my favorite people. Baths aren’t my favorite, but I tolerate them. Loud vacuums and nail clippers? No, thank you! I’m a pro at leash walking, know lots of tricks, and I’m great in my crate. I do get a bit reactive when I see other dogs on a leash, but I love playing with them off-leash! I’m looking for a forever home where I can be the center of attention.
