Story
Little 20lb mini/toy Australian Shepherd Pepper came to us after rescue friends saved her from a breeder auction to prevent her from having to spend her little life making profits for another breeder! She was pregnant at the time (not known by rescuers) and had her very last litter on 8/9/2024 of 5 little boys! They all are spoken for and now it is momma's turn to find the best forever, loving family :) She is a sweet girl and can be a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. She does well with other dogs and doesn't seem bothered by our cats here. She has not been around young humans so we believe a home without kiddos under teenage years would be the best for her. She does not like being kenneled, but does fine as long as she knows no one is around to let her out.  ##2240671##

Story
Carlos is 2 years old and very new to the shelter. He has been laid back and doing good at keeping his kennel clean. As we learn more, we will update his bio. The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member.helpingstrays.org

Story
Meet Lily Jo, a 40 pound Aussie mix.  Lilly Jo is a sweet girl and loves attention, but is happy laying around and not bothering anyone.  She loves everyone once she gets to know them.  Lilly Jo  likes to talk to you.  She also loves her toys. Lily Jo grew up living outside so she is learning her house manners and is very happy to be living life as an inside dog. She is calm and easy going. Lily is NOT good with cats so she would need a home without cats. She is great with other dogs of all sizes and is housebroke and crate trained, She really would like a fenced in yard where she can run around and play. She has gone through the Puppies for Parole program and knows many commands and other tricks. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Lily Jo’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Meet Lexus an 18 month old 30 pound Aussie/Collie mix (mom), not sure who dad was.  Lexus is a sweet girl who is shy at first but warms up quickly with people and other dogs.  Lexus is also good with kids of all ages.  She can be a little too interested in cats, but has not acted out towards them.  So she would need to be slowly introduced to them. Lexus has spent most of her life living outside, so she is adjusting to home life and learning how amazing inside can be.  She is also learning her house manners, such as items on the counter belong to the humans and not her.  With a little positive reinforcement Lexus will be a great companion. Lexus has recently graduated from the 12 week Puppies 4 Parole program through the Mo Department of Corrections.  She was a model student where she has learned basic commands and socialization skills. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Hi, I'm Bruno. I'm a 2 year old Australian Shepherd mix. I seem to do good with other dogs and I do good in my kennel overnight so potty-training should be easy! I'm a little shy of new people but warm up with treats as I am highly food motivated. I'm pretty scared of a leash but the shelter staff is working to getting me more used to it. Can you be my second chance? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2177036##

Story
*ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED* This is Gimli. We believe that she is a Australian Shepherd mix. She will end up around 25-30 pounds. Gimli came to Judy's Forgotten Jewells on June 1st. She was brought to us by a Missouri shelter with her littermates. Since she has been in care, staff members say that she is sooo sweet and playful. She gets along well with other dogs, especially those around her size. She was previously in a home with another older, larger dog and a cat. While she was behaving appropriately with them, the resident pets were not adjusting to her. She is smart and would make a wonderful adventure buddy for an active family. The adoption fee includes their care, de-worming, microchip, neuter, vaccines, fecal test, and preventatives up to the point of adoption. Learn about our adoption process here: https://judysforgottenjewells.com/adoption-process Any Questions? Email us at: judysforgottenjewellsSTL@gmail.com.
